Gibson Pickups!

It would be a big mistake to assume that all humbuckers sound alike. Truth is, there are a number of Gibson humbucking pickups available, and each one has its own distinctive personality. The "Modern Classic" Series from Gibson features tonal characteristics that are similar to the company's popular '57 Classic, but with a slight increase in the upper midrange. It's 100% pure humbucker, but with a modern edge that delivers a more contemporary tonal range that's perfect for almost any style of music. Start with a basic Gibson humbucker, drop a slightly hotter Alnico V magnet into a specially wound coil combination and you have the 498T "Hot Alnico" pickup. With a frequency response that favors the upper midrange and high end, coupled with a high output, this is the perfect rock guitar pickup. This one has double black coils and no cover.

The fix I needed

I have a 2013 Gibson Les Paul Sig. T that I bought from Sweetwater on 10-16-13.The guitar was great in most ways, it came with the 57 and 57+ pickups that just didn't have the heat I wanted. I had to push the Marshall amp to high gain to almost satisfy my needs.I did enjoy the clean sound of the 57's and didn't want to loose that tone, I was afraid that the 498T may be to hot.I found that the 498T answered all of my needs by way of heat and awesome cleans as well.I now can back off the gain on the amp and get very powerful tones that are articulated and very controllable with the heat that I wanted and cleans that shimmer. This is a perfect combo of both worlds.

Amazing low output humbucker

I have a Gibson SG with one of these in the bridge possion. WOW its such a dynamic Humbucker, you can here every string !!!! It has a wide range of tones anything from Jazz to Heavy Rock, and is very easy to EQ. If you are looking for a low output pickup try a guitar with one of these bad boys.
