Gibson Accessories '57 Classic Plus Bridge 2-conductor Pickup - Nickel Reviews

Gibson '57 Classic Plus Humbucker with Alnico II Magnets and Nickel Cover

It would be a big mistake to assume that all humbuckers sound alike. Truth is, there are a number of Gibson humbucking pickups available, and each one has its own distinctive personality. With its "Patent Applied For" decal on the faceplate, the '57 Classic Plus is a near perfect re-creation of a late 1950s humbucker that was slightly overwound, delivering a hotter output along with rich, vintage tone when used in the bridge position. The '57 Classic Plus allows users to overdrive tube preamps without becoming overly strident. It features special Alnico II magnets, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and two conductor braided wiring. Unlike the originals, today's '57 Classic Plus humbuckers are produced under such strict controls that each one delivers the perfect combination of low end punch and midrange crunch. This one has a nickel plated cover.

Exactly the pickup your Les Paul is asking you to buy for it. Many thanks, Sweetwater for a fast delivery and many, many thanks to Matt Emick for making it all happen.

In combination with the '57 Classic neck pickup, my Les Paul now gives me just the sound I was hoping for.

Accept No Substitiute

I knew what this was when I bought it: simply an EXTREMEMLY accurate reproduction of a vintage Gibson Humbucking pickup.
Vintage Gibson pickups were scatter wound, meaning often times a
pickup had a few more winds than "normal". This made the pickup a little hotter. Not blazing hot, but smoldering. This pickup in the bridge position is ALMOST too hot. Frankly, I'm a single coil kinda guy. However I know Gibson pickups from the late 1950's are the most sought after pickups in the world. The Gibson Classic 57 Plus is not
a homerun.....IT'S A GRAND SLAM !

Gibson '57 Classic Plus Humbucker

By Mike from Boulder CO on June 27, 2014 Music Background: Recreational guitarist

Installed in a 1989 Gibson 335 Studio with no f-holes.

It's exactly what I expected, minus some bite. The non-Plus version is all butter and cream, this one has half a shot of Tabasco added.

A full shot would make the combination perfect - regular '57 in the neck, Plus version in the bridge.

But all in all they're really quite good, and as the name says, Classic.

Classic + Nice, solid humbucker pickup

By Alex2002 from mid Tn USA on March 26, 2013 Music Background: 40 y4rs hobbyist rock, metal, alt, guitars and keyboads

Have this on two of my axes in bridge position. One I have just the 57 classic plain. Beautiful rich sound. Great tone, no hum or buzz. Sounds very rich clean and quite full in tube or pedal distortion. Same as a 57 Classic plus a little more there there. No surprises. solid Gibson tone..
