Gibson Pickups!

It would be a big mistake to assume that all humbuckers sound alike. Truth is, there are a number of Gibson humbucking pickups available, and each one has its own distinctive personality. For "in-your-face" hard rock licks, look no further than the Gibson 500T. The powerful multi-ceramic magnet structure enables this monster to cover lots of territory. It's capable of producing the dark, smoky sound of a classic humbucker with plenty of midrange complexity. But it also has a bit of extra high end sparkle that makes it suitable for just about any style of music you might imagine. Available with double black or black / cream (zebra) open coils, the 500T is designed to sit in the bridge position and it comes with four conductor shielded wiring for series/parallel/split coil variations.

Shocked

I've owned over 30 guitars, and have tried just about every 'metal' branded pickup from DiMarzio to Seymour Duncan to EMG and even Lace Sensor. These pickups really shocked me because 99 out 100 times I end up switching stock pickups on a guitar. However, when I recently got a Gibson Flying V with this 500T and 496R in the bridge, I decided to check them out....The biggest thing that stands out to me on the 500T and 496R is that every bit of the volume control can be used on these pickups. On EMG pickups, and to a lesser degree other passive pickups from DiMarzio (Super D) and Seymour Duncan (Blackouts, Black Winters, Nazgul) you really have either 0 or 10 and nothing in between. The other thing that surprised me about the 500T and 496R is how well they BOTH clean up. Yes, it is possible to get a beautiful clean tone out of both these pickups...even the bridge, which really shocked me.I'd recommend these pickups (500T & 496R) to anyone who loves playing Rock through 90's Death Metal, and they cover Metallica tones up through the early 90's as well.

Rock'n Pickup

I actually received this as a gift and put it in my electric I built for myself. Either way this pickup rocks! I build custom guitars and have used dimarzio, seymour duncan and various others and this pickup really cuts through any mix. There is clarity as well as a very heavy sound when using power chords. I would definitely use this pickup again and again.

500T average to good ceramic rock pickup

I had these on les paul classics, decided to switch to ALNICO pickups which I believe are more melodic. These (496/500) are loud, plenty good rockers, but I like the more musical 498t/Classic 57/57+ pickups. For ceramics they are pretty good.
