Designed for down-tuned metal players

Let's face it - finding a tube amp tailored to drop-tuned metal isn't easy. Ibanez went to the drawing board and came up with an amp designed for metal players and, more specifically, drop-tuned metal players. The IL15, part of Ibanez's popular Iron Label guitar series, is a tube amp designed to give you massive metal tones with 6-, 7-, and 8-string guitars. Some amplifiers start getting flabby and sputtering out in the lower register, but not the IL15. This 1 x 12" combo amp gives you solid bass down to your lowest notes. They even put in a FAT switch that dials in a bump at the lower 60Hz frequency, so your drop-tuned strings don't get lost or mushy.

All-tube amplification combined with a genuine Celestion speaker provides timeless tone

Think of your favorite metal bands and the amps they use. Most of the time they're playing tube amps that are cranked to 11. In that same vein, Ibanez created the IL15 to give you killer, all-tube tone in an affordable package. What you'll find is an all-tube design that combines a pair of 12AX7 preamp tubes and a pair of EL84 power tubes - a tried-and-true recipe for classic tube-amp tone. Now, add in the IL15's 12" Celestion speaker, and you're ready to lay down drop-tuned goodness. Take it from the Sweetwater crew - the Ibanez Iron Label IL15 tube amp is made for metal!

Separate EQs give you killer flexibility

Each channel of the IL15 features its own 3-band EQ. This lets you dial in a killer tone for each channel; no more sharing a single EQ. Make your crunch channel thick and chunky while the lead channel is dialed in for crisp high end detail to showcase your blazing solo. If you're into pedals, the IL15 guitar amp has a dedicated effects loop, too.

Ibanez IL15 Iron Label Combo Guitar Amplifier Features:
  • An all-tube guitar amp combo designed for metal and drop-tunings
  • 15-watt tube guitar amplifier that gives you more than enough output for midsize venues and recording
  • The tried-and-true combination of a 12AX7-driven preamp and a EL84-driven power amp sounds amazing
  • A genuine 12" Celestion speaker puts the finishing touch on this amp's heavy tube amp tone
  • Each channel sports a 3-band EQ
  • Optional IFS2L footswitch (not included) lets you toggle the channel and FAT switch on the fly
Get massive metal tone with the all-tube Ibanez Iron Label IL15 combo guitar amplifier!

Great amp

I bought this on a whim and really like it a lot. Took me a while to find settings I like without pedals but when you crank the volume on each channel then use the master to keep it tolerable it sings. They're not joking about this with a 7/8 string guitar either, it sounds amazing. The reverb is a bit weak, similar to a Marshall DSL40 where it's there but not overbearing, but certainly usable. You can use a 2 channel footpedal for the clean/OD channels and the second switch controls the reverb. There's a second footpedal input for the fat switch (which really does add some low end punch). I couldn't find any good demos online that wowed me but getting a great deal on it made it worth the risk. Takes pedals amazingly as well and at only 15 watts, you can really push the EL84s in it. I love my TSA30 and this amp is right up there with it. Great job Ibanez! The amp really begs to be cranked to get some strong tones out of it though, so be prepared to turn it up (the Seventy80 is a far better speaker than people give credit as well IMO).
