A Short-scale Gibson Hollowbody

You'll invoke incredibly rich tone from the Gibson Custom Byrdland hollowbody electric guitar. Gibson's Byrdland hollowbody guitars are a favorite with jazz guitarists, although the Byrdland's playability and tone are loved in many styles including rock. This Byrdland hollowbody tops a maple back and sides with a spruce top, for wonderfully vibrant tones with good definition. Also setting this Byrdland apart from the normal fare is the rounded Venetian cutaway, which creates a smooth look while allowing you easy access to the upper-fretboard. Factor in the maple/walnut neck, a pair of '57 Classic humbucking pickups, and a short-scale length, and you've got an amazingly playable performer in the Gibson Custom Byrdland hollowbody electric guitar.

Very musical combination of tonewoods

The Gibson Custom Byrdland hollowbody combines beautiful maple back and sides with a carved spruce top, complete with a maple/walnut neck topped with an ebony fretboard. The spruce top complements these nicely, balancing the tonal response and enhancing note definition. It's a perfect recipe for those elusive, well-rounded jazz tones that have made the Byrdland such a legendary instrument.

'57 Classic pickups offer sonic versatility

Thanks to dual '57 Classic humbucking pickups, each with their own volume and tone controls, you can coax an impressive range of tones from the Gibson Custom Byrdland. It's ideal for jazz, but versatile enough for country, rock and blues styles too.

Gibson Custom quality

Gibson's Custom Shop took extra care with every detail of the Byrdland hollowbody. Every Gibson Custom guitar receives an ultra-precise Plek Pro setup, which optimizes the fretboard and results in incredibly accurate intonation. And little touches like the block inlays and white binding not only look great, they remain true to the history of the Byrdland hollowbody guitar.

Nice

I played an original from 1973 thru 1976. The tone from the wood was amazing! Hard to justify that price though. My dad had a 1949 Charlie Christian model that smoked it!
