40mm HD driver produces a huge frequency response

Onboard the HRM-7 studio headphones is a large 40mm driver with a copper-clad aluminum wire voice coil and neodymium magnets. All that mumbo-jumbo basically means you get a very wide frequency response, all the way up to 40kHz. That kind of performance is mandatory for quality studio headphones when listening to audio playback in the studio. Your high-resolution audio will sound truly high-res, with extreme detail in the high end. Hear everything you need to with the Pioneer DJ HRM-7 studio headphones.

Dual chamber bass reflex enclosure generates deep bass

For optimal bass response, the Pioneer DJ HRM-7 studio headphones are built with the dual chamber bass reflex enclosure. This closed-back design allows for deep bass frequencies while maintaining great control of the HD driver for amazing audio accuracy. The dual chambers isolate the audio from outside noise, maximizing the low-end response you hear. And the 3-layer damping structure suppresses any vibration or unwanted resonance, ensuring that you receive the truest audio from your source.

Large housing and comfortable earpads designed for prolonged use

Every bit as crucial to Pioneer DJ as the HRM-7's sonic performance is their comfort and ability to be worn for prolonged periods of time. That's why the HRM-7s are engineered with large memory foam ear pads that contour to your ear and then covered in soft velour for the ultimate in headphone luxury. Pioneer DJ made comfort as important as performance with their HRM-7 studio headphones, because what good would amazing perfomance be in a set of studio headphones if they were so uncomfortable you couldn't stand to keep them on?

Unbeatable sound quality for the price. Unbalanced FR though

I have had these headphones for some time now. When I bought them I saw little to no real reviews on them but am admittedly a Pioneer fan and the price was right so I bought them. A quick summary of the sound is that they are bright with tons of potential. BASS: Very tight, extremely deep, noticeably fast in decay, yet a bit restrained and lacking a bit of impact. There is no noticeable mid bass hump and the bass reminds me of a planar magnetic driver. MIDRANGE: Clear, upper midrange emphasis, but not etchy or peaky. The midrange isn't weighty or thick but almost thin without being recessed. Tons of details but slightly more decay than something that costs a lot more. TREBLE: VERY BRIGHT. This is the brightest Pioneer headphone I have ever heard. The treble is very extended and airy but not peaky and scratchy. Even though its bright its not very fatiguing compared to other bright headphones I have heard. SOUNDSTAGE: VERY BIG for a headphone of this price. The soundstage is bigger on this headphone than literally any 400 or below headphone that I have heard or read a review about (heard tons and tons). The sound images que up in very easily perceived positions. I would say you would have to buy a Fostex th600, JVC dx700.dx1000, or the new THX00 to beat it here. They sound even larger than the MR Speakers Alpha Dogs in soundstage and better overall. LEAKAGE: These things leak so be careful on vocal takes for recording. These would serve better for Monitoring or Mixing. FIT: Large, bulky, sloppy fit that may require bending to properly provide sufficient clamping. BUILD: Solid and durable but cheap looking in person. I recommend modifying these by placing some felt or something over the driver cavities to attenuate the high frequencies. As is its very capable and an exceptional performer but those high FR may become tiresome for long sessions.
