Great mid level headphones for djs

One of the the biggest decisions for a dj is what headphones to use. THe market for such a product is highly competitive and at each price range each headset brand offers features that are both very different and the same. Pioneer has often been considered for some through the years to be the de facto set and for good reason. They are loud, Comfortable, and sound clear. The biggest downside to the previous incarnation, the HDJ-1000, is that they where flimsy. The 1500's have been improved significantly in this regard. Too me the two best features other than the drivers and the sound is the Cord system and the improved cups. The cord does not have a soldered connection and is instead a detachable piece. This along with the cord being coiled both helps stop snags and makes them far less destructive when they happen. The cups as said before are much improved. They are still of plastic constrution at the rotating joint but are made of a light weight alloy. This is sturdy without weighing everything down. As for fit, the memory foam pads for the head and the ears are soft and great. They isolate sound greatly. Make no mistake these are overear head sets, they just have large pads. If you do not like this, pioneer has replacement pads.My only downside is that there is plastic construction and I wish they came with a molded carrying case and an extra cable. THis would cost a little more but I feel that this is a great product and would only benefit. Also I bought the silver but I wish I would have gotten all black headphones. I got a little scuff on the plastic in a set that otherwise still looks new.Pluses -Good ValueGreat soundLOUDComfortableSturdy feelGood IsolationBrake cableMinuses-Still contains some plasticLeather carrying bagA little heavyMemory Foam pads take time getting used to.
