Amazing Sound Quality

These sound amazing. I have been using SRM 450s for the last 5 years, as a fan of the Mackie speaker, I went ahead and got a pair of these. Everywhere my band plays, not only the fans, but musicians come out of the crowd and say, WOW, those sound great. Cons – (just so you paranoid peeps don’t think I am just some idiot who works for Mackie), The corners scratched really easily, they are made of wood, not the hard plastic I am used to with the SRM 450. So we had to go ahead and buy the speaker covers too. Other than that, they are fantastic. We also have figured out that they cannot be placed near a wall, so when we play a small bar, ( sorry, if you are rock star and no longer play small bars stop reading here) sometime we just use one speaker, because it puts so much sound into the room, it can be overwhelming to the audience. Lastly, no extra EQ section, i mean honestly, I laugh when I see another EQ section on a powered speaker, like oh yeah, we forgot the set the EQ to our signal, lets do it here! Seriously, this is a great product, and well worth our investment.

Smooth as a baby's bottom!

I have been a Mackie fan for a long time. Yes, they have had their problems with quality issues on some of the HD line. But i was sold on this company with the SRM 450s 12 years ago and rolled the dice and choose the HDA over other brands in this price point. First off, these boxes sound amazing! If you think all your getting is a SRM 450 in a wood box, think again! The level of clarity is pretty amazing with NO harshness the SRM 450 can have. Smooth, smooth smooth! The construction is solid and the sound is incredible!

Blew away my expectations!

When I heard that we were getting a Mackie HD line array system instead of the QSC KLA at our church (our budget couldn't quite accommodate the QSCs), I rolled my eyes and hoped for the worst. I was pleasantly surprised when I mixed my first service on our new system (we completely ripped out our old analog system and put in, among other things, 1 HD1801 and 2 HDAs per side). After some SMAART tuning these boxes sound great! Smooth and punchy.
