High Fidelity, Low Noise Headphones with ActiveGard Technology

With their innovative ActiveGard compression technology, the Sennheiser HD 300 PROtect headphones deliver a superior monitoring experience while protecting your hearing from unexpected signal spikes. If incoming audio exceeds safe levels (like with unexpected feedback), ActiveGard limits the audio to protect your hearing. You'll also be impressed by the impressive ambient noise attenuation, helping you hear your audio even in noisy, loud environments. And HD 300 PROtect headphones are amazingly comfortable to wear, helping to reduce the fatigue of long listening sessions. Complete with a rugged cable and 1/4" adapter, Sennheiser HD 300 PROtect headphones equip you for an outstanding sonic experience.

ActiveGard limiting system protects your hearing

In live sound and studio recording applications, unexpected signal spikes can damage your hearing while you're monitoring. To protect your ears, Sennheiser's ActiveGard technology is ready and waiting to limit incoming audio to suppress signal spikes that exceed safe monitoring levels. When the incoming audio falls back into a safe range again, ActiveGard goes back into standby mode.

Collapsible high-end headphones for the pros

The HD 300 PROtect headphone are collapsible high-end headphones ideal for professional monitoring use. They offer a closed circumaural design which provides excellent passive attenuation of ambient noise. And they're designed to cut through even in loud environments, perfect for use onstage and for studio recording applications.

Built for comfort and accuracy

These monitoring headphones also provide an extended frequency response with increased sound pressure level (up to 123dB) for accurate sound reproduction in all kinds of demanding use. All the frequencies are there
Flat, clean sound. Just what is needed for monitoring. The ear cups are comfortable and you can wear these for long periods without discomfort. I did not know if I would like the ActiveGard feature so I turned it off to see if there was a difference. There was nothing noticeable at any safe volume. I turned them up pretty loud without any noticable drop off in sound (with ActiveGard on). I would recommend these for studio work. Maybe not mastering the finest of details but that is all subjective. You can use these for both monitoring and mixing with no issues.

Not Bad
So the Good things first, Sound quality out of the box, really good. Not as good as my Kali monitors, but good. First time wearing them, quit comfortable. Cord is a bit short, which could come in handy depending on your setup, for me kinda not long enough. The cable itself is rather thin. I like a good solid cable so I know the product will last a long time and I have my doubts about this one. The on/off switch for the ActiveGard(tm) Limiter is stupid, flat out. the compartment it is supposed to be in is really really hard to open and you basically need a pry bar to make that happen. I stopped trying out of fear of braking it in the process. These things are not cheap, build quality is a bit low in my opinion considering the price, not overall bad, but I doubt they will hold up to much abuse. I have ordered different headphones in the past and they have alway come with a nice case or pouch to store them in, but not these. When you open the box you get the headphones. That's it. It's just one of the attention to detail things that shows a company cares about you as a costumer. Overall, your money might be better spent elsewhere. They will get the job done, but if I would do it again I would probably choose something else. I may do a follow up review after I use them a bit.
