Light Weight — Heavy-duty Sound

Like its predecessor, Sennheiser HD 25 Light headphones boast a minimalistic design. Nonetheless, they deliver the well-defined bass and detailed high end you need to make decisive mixing decisions. Enjoy outstanding comfort, thanks to their robust single headband design. A dual-sided detachable cable extends the life of your headphones — if the cable breaks replace it, rather than getting a new set of headphones. At Sweetwater, we've found that Sennheiser HD 25 Lights, with their 16Hz–22kHz frequency response, are great on-ear headphones for mixing, monitoring, and recreational listening.

Sennheiser HD 25 Light Headphones Features:

  • Robust single headband design provides amazing comfort
  • Closed-back design yields effective ambient noise isolation
  • Healthy SPL handling (up to 120dB) for working in louder environments
  • Wide frequency response (16Hz–22kHz) allows for accurate monitoring
  • Dual-sided detachable cable extends the life of your headphones — if the cable breaks replace it, not your headphones

The perfect choice for a VO booth!
In early January, I upgraded my homely, but very functional "homeless shelter" recording space from mattress foam and moving blankets to the perfect-for-an-apartment-dweller VO booth, the Isovox II. It was finally time to also upgrade my booth monitors from the totally bare-wired, barely-audible Sennheiser HD 201S followed by a $4.98 pair of cell phone ear plugs that don't stay in the ears, to the Sennheiser HD25. This one reminds me a lot of the classic Sennheiser HD414 that I loved so much in my live radio days. The HD25 has the volume I need, the clarity and frequency response you'd expect with much higher-priced headphones. It's the perfect companion to the HD280 Pro headphones I currently use for audio editing.

Nice, compact headphones!
Bought these for my daughter and she loves them! They have clear, dynamic sound and are small and compact.

I want to give a suggestion for anyone having problems with them cutting out: this was happening to our pair as well until I unplugged the connectors from the headphones, applied DeoxIT fluid/spray to the connector and a very small amount into the receptacle and plugged them back in...problem solved! It has been almost a year and the problem has not returned.

I love the sound, but doesn't seem to last
I bought a first pair in August of 2020 and within a month had to ask for a replacement, because the right ear was going out. When I got the second pair I made sure that I never folded the cord up, so that nothing of the sort would happen again. It's late-October now and I'm already beginning to have issues with the left ear going in and out. There is a two year warranty, but it would be quite annoying to keep getting replacements, period.

Besides that, I love the sound itself. It's very clear and great for mixing. I've listened to commercial and other online releases as well and these really help me hear the great (and some times not-so-great) things about their mixed.

Great sound, but...
These things cannot take a joke. The construction isn't par for a piece of equipment that's going to go thru a fair amount of movement and use. Dainty is not "Studio quality" unless the studio is also disposable. But they do (at least did) sound great for a little while.

Didn't last long.
This is the second pair of headphones I purchased from Sennheiser with the same result as the first. They sound very good but barely last a month. They should stick to making microphones. My other cheaper headphones have lasted 2+ years and are still going. I'll look into a set of Sony headphones.

In our personal studios, you'll find plenty of HD 280 Pro headphones, e609 Silver cab mics, and other staples, while many of us rely on EW wireless in-ear systems onstage.
