Blew away my expectations!

When I heard that we were getting a Mackie HD line array system instead of the QSC KLA at our church (our budget couldn't quite accommodate the QSCs), I rolled my eyes and hoped for the worst. I was pleasantly surprised when I mixed my first service on our new system (we completely ripped out our old analog system and put in, among other things, 1 HD1801 and 2 HDAs per side). After some SMAART tuning these boxes sound great! Lots of punchy bass for an 18" sub.

HD 1801 Mackey's powered sub

I put these HD 1801 Mackie powered subs in my system I had one along with the str 1801 stop air so now I have for a teens on my bottom in and they just blow you out the room with punch power. I love them but then again I'm a Mackie man along with the New DL32r boomin system.

mackie hd 1801 subs

First, I have to tell you, dealing with you guys at Sweetwater is remarkable. Everyone comes across as really friendly, totally knowledgeable about products and uses, and give the impression they really want to help you figure out what's best for your setup. I love the Mackie hd 1801 subs. I really thought they would offer a lot more punchin' base. They do balance out my mains beautifully, however.

Warm and present

These subs do sounds beautiful. Being 18 inch they are not super punchy, but definitely have some serious warmth. The ones I am using are now 18 months old and have had no problems yet (though I am aware of the HD series reputation). There is a definite tonality to this sub when it is needed. It can reproduce subtleties in low end timbre which is a lovely thing to hear in low frequencies.
