Peavey Grind Bass 6 - 6 String Natural Reviews

6-string Electric Bass with Mahogany Body, Mahogany Neck, Maple Stringers, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Natural

The Peavey Grind 6-string solidbody bass gives you boutique quality at a rock bottom price. Peavey Grind basses feature a neck-through-body design, are crafted of mahogany with maple stringers, and sport a fast mahogany neck with an Indonesian rosewood fingerboard. The result is smooth playability, impressive sustain, and gutsy, resonant tone. Bass Player Magazine gave the Grind their distinguished Editor's Award, so you know Peavey's onto something. In the market for a great-sounding (and playing) bass that won't break the bank? You owe it to yourself to give the Peavey Grind a serious audition.

Peavey Grind

By Revvy from Pa. on April 15, 2024

Got my GRIND 5 & 6 stringer in 2003 , ever since then I've been a PEAVEY bass player, not exclusively though . but every peavey bass I've owned is always in my top 3.
I'm playing a monster 96 Peavey Foundation 5 .

Awesome bass

By JOSH from Northern California on February 5, 2018 Music Background: 20 years playing music/8 years of teaching bass and theory

The 6 string and 35 inch scale makes sure the string are tight and responsive my only down for it is the two volume pots which on mine I have rewired to a volume and blend pot as having one makes it easier to control and keep and blend the pick up more evenly I've had this bass since 2006 and it has never left my side. I've had basses before and after it but I get rid of em including my Mexican Fender jazz bass 5 string and a Tobias 4. And many others if you want a quality bass with six strings that won't hurt your wallet of your back I recommend you try a peavey grind out..

Peavey Grind 6

By Michael from Fort Wayne on November 25, 2017

My first thought was its going to weigh a lot and I'm going to develop back problems. To my surprise it is light. In fact, it is lighter than my Ibanez 6 string. The neck is smooth to play and the strings are easy to reach, for me at least. I like the simple layout of the tone/volume controls. The pickups offer the right, full tone for me. This bass offers the flexibility and perks of the 6 string with out breaking your back or wallet.

Great Instrument, great sound

By Ryan Wright from Greer, SC on March 30, 2017

I've wanted a 6 string bass since I first started playing back in college, but never was able to convince myself to take the plunge and get one. Then, someone pointed me to Sweetwater, and they just happened to have their 48 month 0% interest deal going, and this bass was on the list of items included in that sale.

I decided to go ahead and take the plunge and have been blown away by the customer service, and by the bass. Bass sounds amazing, loads of fun to play, and lots of variety of tone.

Muy bien

Being that I had to largely rely on reviews in order to make up my mind on my next axe, I feel I have a responsibility to anyone in my similar situation as to how absolutely great this instrument is. The design and look of this thing in person is a million times better than on the screen, and it's playability is comforting and smooth as well. I went straight for a six after playing a four for many years and the transition is almost nonexistent. That being said, this bass is definitely designed for the beginner who wants to learn to play a six, as it's machine heads, nut, and electronics are pretty basic compared to other models I've came in contact with. Great bass for beginners and intermediate players, but there are better suited basses out there if you consider yourself a professional.

Didn't care for it

By Nick Schulke on November 20, 2018

I bought this bass after being impressed with the Peavey Cirrus models (the 6 strings are discontinued and hard to come by), and unfortunately, it didn't sound as good. Contrary to what you might expect with a name like the Peavey "Grind" Bass, I found it very murky sounding - like a Fender Jazz Bass with the tone knob rolled off. I was able to get a cool, almost upright-like tone out of it, but when it came time for slapping and popping, it just didn't sound good, even on the bridge pickup with copious treble and compression. Watching some videos of this bass on YouTube, there were two people who managed to get a bright tone out of it, which is perplexing. However, I found a thread on TalkBass where several people reached the same verdict as me: that the stock pickups are muddy and dull sounding.
