Traditional banjo styling and tone

Gretsch started building banjos over 120 years ago. The first Gretsch guitar-banjos rolled off the production lines in the early 1900s. Needless to say, they know a thing or two about making them. The Gretsch G9460 Dixie 6 guitar-banjo combines that extensive knowledge with modern production techniques to build a great guitar-banjo. You'll love the closed-back tones, vintage looks, and the great feel of the Gretsch Dixie 6 guitar-banjo.

Get classic tone with a resonator-backed banjo

When you want that traditional banjo sound, you need a banjo with a resonator. The resonator on the Gretsch G9400 Broadkaster Deluxe gives you a brighter tone usually associated with bluegrass. A 3-ply maple rim gives your tone punch and sass. Reach your audience better with the increased volume and projection from this resonator backed banjo.

This traditional acoustic instrument celebrates Gretsch's roots in American music

Part of their Roots collection, the Gretsch G9460 Dixie 6 guitar-banjo gives you a chance to own one of Gretsch's earliest instruments. Everyone knows Gretsch electric guitars and drums, but did you know that they got their start in 1883 as a banjo company? It wasn't long before Gretsch was making mandolins, ukuleles, and eventually flat-top guitars, contributing to the very roots of American music. So when you pick up a Gretsch G9460 Dixie 6, you're holding more than a great guitar-banjo, you're holding a piece of American music history.

Gretsch G9460 Dixie 6 Guitar-banjo Features:
  • Great-playing and affordable guitar-banjo
  • Maple rim and neck provide classic banjo tones

Exactly what we were looking for for our Gospel band. Mellow banjo sound without overpowering twang!

Solid, fun and great sounding

I didn't give it 5 stars because there are several things you can do to improve it. It's great but not perfect. I put GHS six string banjo strings on mine which made it more balanced and playable. I also took off the back. It sounds nice and open now. You can't beat this instrument for the price. Get one, you wont be disappointed.

Very Pleased

I've had a Dixie 6 about six months now and it has proven to be a great addition. Terrific vintage sound, very high quality construction, and amazingly good looking. Have had many positive comments on the sound and looks when playing it with my celtic/folk band. It's also become my favorite instrument for playing while just kicking back and relaxing. Very happy with it.
