Your quest for stunning fat tone ends here

Chandler's ramps up the quest for perfect tone with the Germanium Tone Control EQ. The Tone Control uses active and passive EQ circuits in combination with the Germanium amplifier developed for the Germanium Pre - and incorporates versatile Feedback and Drive controls as well. The separate low-frequency cut and boost sections can operate independently or interactively, and both the Presence and Treble sections can be swept. All bands use inductors for the fattest, smoothest tone possible.

Passive and active circuits for maximum tone-shaping flexibility

For maximum flexibility, you can switch the passive low frequency section of the Chandler Limited Germanium Tone Control between "Pultec/Lang" interactive curves and "standard" low frequency with pass filtering. Treble and Presence bands are active and designed to sound like the most sought-after vintage Brit EQs. The Tone Control extends the Germanium convention of providing you with tasty vintage sound - plus maximum flexibility - at a down-to-earth price.

Your sonic obsession: Chandler's mission

Recording engineers are always looking for fresh tonal colors and approaches when tracking - it's an obsession. Chandler feeds this addiction with their innovative take on the technologies of the past. They start with painstaking component selection. The Germanium Tone Control's parts list reads like a 40-year-old document. Seriously - they just don't build 'em this way anymore. Hand-wired and assembled in the USA, the Germanium Tone Control utilizes 100% discrete transistor circuitry and specially wound transformers. Aside from the fact that you'll have this puppy forever, the weapons-grade build quality is a means to an end - the sound. Glorious, fat, supremely musical sound, with amazing headroom. Stock your arsenal with a serious rock and roll weapon - the Chandler Limited Germanium Tone Control EQ.

Absolutely gorgeous sounding.

Thick, punchy, rich, and electric sounding. The sound of heaven made of the finest confections. Worth every penny. Get a pair. Track everything through them, even without EQ. Then strap them on the master bus as line amps to get that Wade brand transformer saturation. My goodness Wade is a genius.

Major addition to my home studio

This little piece of rack gear adds so much color to everything I record. It can go from nice, clean, and airy to a little grit with some harmonic distortion, whatever. This does it all. I was a plug in juckie before, but now I'm trying to capture exactly what I want on the way in. The tone control does this well.

Be aware of high frequency roll off

I got this eq after reading all the drooling going on online and I was expecting a professional eq with the ability to adjust the transformer coloration. First of all no matter what setting you choose on feedback, it eats an unacceptable amount of high frequency. Feedback at max you have to apply a quiet boost on 20khz shelf setting to obtain the normal frequency response. Even feedback at minimum it requires a boost of 2 (as indicated on the device) at 20khz only to have a flat response, otherwise you end up with a sudden lofi spectrum. Regarding the transformer saturation, it wasn't what I expected (I have many tube gear that are used only in top professional studios so I guess I know what I am looking in saturation). This one just adds an artificial plugin like saturation so I use it with the lowest setting. My last word, don't be fooled with the hype, try and than buy!
