Awesome sound

I was blown away by the sounds of this GTR3, my sixties tribute lespaul sings through this and a bonus is you get the bass amp mods too. I love all the different sounds you can get on the bass mods as well. This works flawlessly with my Studio One 3 pro. Ive already used it on a song I just started with the bass mods and they cut right through the mix, without being overpowering, you can pretty much get any texture of sound you want out of this, so why pay more.

Great sounds

The waves GTR3 is one of the easiest and best sounding plug ins I have used, I was blown away with it within five minutes of testing it. It makes my les paul sing as well as my old cheap ibenez. If you cant get the exact sounds you want out of this, then they just cant be made.

The BEST guitar plugin!!

Thi is, by far, the easiest, and best sounding guitar AND bass plugin I've heard and worked with!! The presets are excellent to start, and the tweaking seems limitless. Can't beat it!!

What a blessing

This thing is such a blessing. For reals, this thing is bad in a righteous way! It has so many flavors... I'm no great guitarist just quite yet but I mic an upfront Encore 100 to my acoustic not plugged in and it sounded great. It was overdriven easily but had lots of character and precision. For the money even at full price this thing has serious bang for the buck. I've heard a few demo's of other guitar simulators but this one's tone and sustain seems unbeatable. It really does seem they have the technology on GTR3. I can't wait to get my electric setup and plug this in. And once again, why waste a few thousand on decent amps when you could have what to me seems to be top quality for 140 and as portable as your computer. Thanks Waves you did it again. Pair this with a CLA compressor and you got da' radio sound baaaabe. haha.

GTR3 makes Waves

A good way for me to review GTR3 is to compare it and Amplitube3. IKM (Amplitube) pride themselves, and rightfully so, on their realistic modelling of legendary industry hardware and delivering it up in a software package that is truly versatile and amazing. Waves (GTR3), on the other hand, takes a slightly different approach; they also model legendary industry hardware but without the hums, buzzes, clicks and other noise that is part of the hardware's "character". GTR3 captures the musical sound qualities of the hardware very well too but presents it in a cleaner, crisper and clearer ambience; probably just as the original makers would have preferred to do had the technology been available. I find myself using Amplitube3 for live performance and noodling but when it comes time to lay down tracks in my DAW I prefer the crystal clear background afforded by GTR3. The assortment of amps, cabinets, mikes and effects is ample and versatile enough to create any guitar sound in the book. The plug-in version works with Reaper and ProTools (so it will likely work for any other DAW as well) and doesn't soak up a lot of resources. I really like their graphic user interface, it's clean and intuitive. If you are looking for a high quality, realistic guitar rig modeler with a cleaned up sound then look no further, GRT3 is it. The copy protection scheme is easy to use and gives you some options on moving the program around amongst your studio equipment and road-ware. The only knock I have is the manual; it's a bit hazy and tends to over complicate some of the information; but, while a rewrite is in order, you can still figure things out.
