I don't think you can beat this deal. I'm not a pro, but if you're looking of a travel or even a beginner guitar that blows other guitars of equal price out of the water, this is it! Great youth guitar after you know he's going to keep going as a musical adventure; I bought the Mahogany for my son to learn, it sounds great, but I decided to try RW; VERY Satisfied. I've been a hobby guitarist for about 4 yrs, I own 800 Taylor, so I've tested and played the range of guitars; this is a Great travel, primary, or addition for a guitar enthusiast, even more so for the price.

Round sound from a small guitar

Purchased this as a "couch guitar" to keep and play during breaks in work and during commercials and such. First of all I was really impressed with the finish of the guitar. The neck is perfect and smooth. The ebony fingerboard is actually just as good if not better than on my 400 series. Fretwork was fantastic as well. The sitka top has a couple of "bear claw" type marks near the bridge which look a little funny cosmetically but I am sure it does nothing to the tone.

As usual when ordering from Sweetwater it came set up and ready to play. I played a standard GS mini and found it to be pretty good, but when I saw I could get rosewood for just a few dollars more I had to splurge. Boy am I glad I did. This guitar is just a fantastic tonally balanced guitar. Although I thought the standard GS was good sounding, the rosewood really adds to the sound. Everything about the RW is better. Deeper bass, brighter treble and just that fantastic Taylor midrange. Great for strumming or fingerpicking this guitar just sounds good all over the fingerboard. Really crisp and surprisingly loud for it's size. Probably not a great flat picker but I don't do that much anyway. I would stick with the medium strings-I tried lights, but it didn't improve sound or playability. It just lost some volume and brought out the treble a little more. Overall, I have to say this is an easy playing great sounding and well built guitar. I would put it up against a lot of full size guitars that I have owned in the past.
