I've been purchasing G-tech drives for more than 10-years and never had a problem until I purchased this granddaddy of them all. The drive arrived and was clearly an open box item. I notified Sweetwater immediately and I was told that it wasn't uncommon for the sales folks to open a box to answer a customers' question. That in itself was not something I expected to hear.
Upon inspection I noticed the door was open so clearly somebody had been messing with it. Then again the door design is not consistent with the quality of other G-tech drives. When you close the door you have to push it in extremely hard and once it's closed you can't push in to reopen it by hand. I had to use a plastic pry device typically used for auto detailing/dash radio removal. It's in extremely poor design and not well thought out. As much as I wanted a quality RAID TB/USB3 drive, this simply wasn't it so back it went.
