Ibanez GRGM21M

Nice neck. The action is a bit high but it is a nice guitar. Great for small hands or traveling. I am not a big fan of the pickups though. Muddy...

jewel blue - Ibanez - GRGM21M

I really enjoy this guitar! The initial "factory setup" definitely needed "tweaking" for a more accurate intonation because the string height caused the notes to go off pitch when the strings were depressed, but once I lowered the strings and adjusted the pitch bridge distances, it plays great just as nice as there close action full size models! Its 3/4 scale size makes it a breeze to play too, so very EASY 5 fret stretches and more. The fingerboard is just as wide as found on a standard sized neck, but its length from nut to bridge is about 3" shorter, that shorter distance makes for less string tension and makes for really wonderful, almost effortless, string bends! Again this is a 22.25" scale as apposed to the usual 24.75 or 25.50. I bought this guitar as a "project" guitar so I expected to be making some changes right away and I did so.... even though the original pickups were really "hot" I just didn't like the sound so much - they were too "dark" sounding for me. I play more Jazz - "Clean", but these stock pickups would probably be great for playing Metal and Grunge. Anyway, I pulled the stock pickups and replaced them with a set of Seymore Duncan "Performers" Humbuckers they sounded just the same - really dark. I then decided to go with a pair of Single Coil Fender "Noiseless" instead of the "dark" Humbuckers, and I couldn't be happier with the sound AND how great it is to play! I didn't really expect too much since the price was so affordable, but have been pleasantly surprised and well pleased with this literal "little one" from Ibanez - they always make such great products IMO! Bob~
