The Glyph is everything you need for pro audio.

I use these for backing up all my audio post work. The speed and capacity is fantastic in comparison to the pricing. You get what you pay for, and this is the best. I've never had one that's crashed on me yet, and I've got some that are as old as 2009.

    Somewhat disappointing unfortunately...

I'm a big fan of Glyph drives but this one has some things I don't like. On a positive note, though, over USB3 the drive is super fast. I was getting read/write speeds up to 190mb/s which is really good. Now onto the problems... My first complaint is mainly aesthetic but it matters. The new blue led light on the power button is way too bright and extremely annoying on your desktop. I don't want my hard drive to distract my peripheral vision while I'm editing. I don't really want to know it's there. I just need it to perform, not call attention to itself. Second, the drive has an auto sleep feature of some sort which I do not like. If I'm in Pro Tools and I don't do anything for a few minutes, the drive will go to sleep and when I click somewhere to start playback I'll get the spinning beachball and the drive takes a few seconds to boot back up before I can do anything. HATE THAT... I want this drive to be instantly accessible at all times in a session, regardless of how long it's been idle. Lastly, they don't give you the hardshell plastic case anymore which I loved for transporting around to mobile sessions. I've read their statement on why they don't do it anymore but it still sucks if you actually liked them and used them. Anyway, overall it's still a really good drive but these new changes Glyph is making are in a wrong direction I'm afraid. I'm considering Avastor drives now but they're super expensive and I don't really understand why. $255 for a 1tb drive? really? okay, enough ranting... this drive is still solid but just be forewarned of the things I mentioned if you decide to get one...
