Solid top for enhanced tone with age

Sweetwater knows that the choice of top wood can make or break the sound of an acoustic guitar. For the GPCRSGT, Martin chose a solid Sitka spruce top. Chosen as much for its look as its tone, solid spruce has a rich, lively sound with excellent projection. And because it's a solid-wood top the tone will age gracefully as the wood matures, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by.

Smooth playability from the Performing Artist Series neck

Whether you need to survive long recording sessions or plan to play out late into the night, you'll be glad you got a Martin GPCRSGT acoustic-electric. The GPCRSGT features one of Martin's amazing Performing Artist series necks, whose slimmer profile is easy on your hand, allowing you to play those extended sessions in comfort.

Great-sounding electronics

The GPCRSGT acoustic-electric is equipped with the Fishman Sonitone pickup system, which gives you great-sounding output, onstage and in the studio. The Sonitone system puts volume and tone controls directly in the soundhole for easy access.

Martin GPCRSGT Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Classic Martin styling with Fishman electronics in a Grand Performance model
  • Hybrid "X" scalloped bracing enhances projection and tonal balance
  • Solid Sitka spruce top for a rich, lively sound that will enhance with age
  • Sapele back and sides provide a warm, solid tonal foundation
  • Fast Performing Artist neck with smooth-playing Richlite fingerboard
  • Cutaway gives you free access to upper frets
  • Hardshell case included for transport, storage, and humidification

Great Guitar!

So glad I decided on this Martin. Yes, it's made in Mexico, but so what? The factory in Mexico uses the same equipment and tooling as in Pennsylvania. Most of all, this GPCRSGT is different than the others in the Road Series in that it's solid wood for the back and sides. The other Road Series use high pressure laminate. Being solid wood makes it the top of the line for the series. Actually, being solid wood, I have to wonder why it's part of the Road Series at all. The Craftsmanship is superb, the case is really heavy and nice, and it plays and sounds great. The only thing I would change is the pickup. I do like the hidden knobs in the sound hole which means no big hole in the side, but it uses the Sonicore pickup under the saddle which is the cheapest Fishman pickup. The Sonicore is like a transducer. Something like the stiff Matrix sounds much better, although that transducer is around $. I may switch to that at some point if I can keep the preamp and all as is and just solder in the Matrix transducer.Pickup aside, this Martin is fantastic and well worth the money. Being solid wood, I would've thought it would cost more and probably would if the same guitar came out of the Bethlehem, PA factory.

sounds better every day.

Every day I play this guitar it sounds better and better. Really glad that I chose this Martin guitar. Have not used the electronics yet . My guitar teacher is really impressed with the guitar also.

This is a MONSTER guitar for the money. It plays and sounds as good or better than guitars costing 3x as much (My previous guitar was a 1996 taylor 814c for reference). Don't let "Made in Mexico" dissuade you, the build quality, finishing and tone are pure Martin and the buying experience from Sweetwater was fantastic!

My Christmas present ... Wow LOVE IT.

Purchased this a few weeks ago from Stillwater and I am very pleased with the Guitar and the service I received from Stillwater. I had an old Yamaha and wanted to upgrade and boy is this an upgrade. It is so much easier to play and sound is fenominal. Direct plug in to my Mac is also nice. Case is awsome and build of guitar top notch. I am sure I will keep this one for a long long time.

What a beautiful Guitar. The quality and sound are unbelievable. Right from the first night I got to play I was impressed. I definitely made the right choice. Thanks Martin and Sweetwater for a great deal.
