Archback Acoustic from Guild's Westerly Series

Guild's iconic arched back makes its return in the Westerly OM-240E acoustic-electric. The purpose of this trademark feature is twofold: principally, it reduces weight and increases live projection. But it also pays tribute to some of Guild's popular models, like the D-25 and F-30. The result is a great-playing, easy-traveling guitar with Guild's unmistakable look. The Westerly OM-240E harks back to Guild's golden-era flat tops with some exciting vintage specs, including a mid-sized Orchestra body made from premium woods, a classic Guild C-shape neck, and a retro red tortoiseshell pickguard. The OM-240E includes the AP-1 pickup for a clean sound that plugs straight into a PA.

Guild Acoustics: a heritage built on great woods and features

Guild's heritage as one of America's premier early guitar makers is acknowledged in the OM-240E. Solid Sitka spruce and mahogany meet in a mid-sized Orchestra body with an arched back for a big sound and great playing experience. A real bone nut and saddle deliver golden-era sustain and clarity. And a 1960s red tortoiseshell pickguard gives this guitar a look that was made to be seen.

Guild AP-1 pickup captures this Westerly's natural acoustic voice

The Westerly series' AP-1 piezo pickup is one of the better options we've seen in this price range. The sound is full and dynamic onstage, and it pairs great with a microphone for recording parts at home or in the studio. Volume and tone controls are mounted directly in the soundhole for easy access, and for a look that won't detract from your guitar's natural beauty.

Engineered for a comfortable playing experience

The OM-240E's clean playability will help channel all your creative ideas into beautiful music. Seasoned players will notice right away the OM-240E's slinky string action all along the 25.5-inch scale length C-shape neck. The 1-11/16-inch nut width spaces out strings suitably for strumming, flatpicking, or fingerstyling, with just the right amount of real estate that neither feels cramped nor causes you to reach uncomfortably.

Guild OM-240E Westerly Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Iconic arched back pays tribute to Guild's early acoustics
  • Unique design is lighter and louder than comparably sized guitars
  • Quality mid-size Orchestra body is made from solid Sitka spruce and mahogany
  • Vintage-profiled C-shape neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard plays comfortably
  • 1960s red tortoiseshell pickguard looks great onstage
  • Bone nut and saddle enhance sustain and clarity
  • 1-11/16-inch nut width suits strummers to fingerstylists
  • 25.5-inch scale length has a slinky-smooth action
  • Guild AP-1 pickup system provides a clean sound for the stage and studio

Guild D25

I feel the D25 is one of the finest guitar models I have ever played. Why don't I see any comments on the D25 in your articles?
Music background: I bought my first D25 in 1975 and fell in love with it! I since then bought a 1979, a 1974, and a 1958 D25 and a 1993 C30.

Beyond expectations

This was a pleasant surprise! The quality of this instrument far exceeds its price. Would highly recommend !

Great sound and sustain...

Was really surprised when I got this yesterday and started playing it this morning after the 24 hour wait!. Sustain is endless, has a beautiful bellow to it. Cant beat the price! Bought this one blind for my wife to learn on and its far exceeded expectations. Really comfortable is an understatement, electronics are Fishman and sounds perfect through my amp with a little delay and chorus or without. Will be looking at a F-40 next for me. Ive always been a Martin and Gibson player but this might change things a bit. Check one out and give Andy Scheer a call.

Great Guitar

This is a really nice guitar. I've had a few Guild guitars and have loved each and every one. For some reason I can't explain I've always played dreadnaughts. I decided to try a smaller body guitar and boy am I pleased I did. It sounds great although not as deep as my dreadnaughts, which is totally expected. The Guild quality is still there even though they are not made in America (at least this one isn't) anymore.

So - if you are looking for a really nice guitar that won't break you pocketbook you should check out the 240 series from Guild. High quality, great sound at a price that's affordable. Pretty hard to beat that combo.

Finally a shout out to Jonathan Casarow, my sales rep at Sweetwater. I ALWAYS get straight answers from him and I have never been disappointed when dealing with him.

Just What I Hoped For

This Guild was my first OM sized guitar. The price was great. It was setup well and ready to go after unpacking. I've played it for a couple of weeks now and it's the most comfortable acoustic I have owned. I love the 25.5" scale and shallow depth. It is shallow and slender, but has plenty of projection.
Music background: Worship Leader, Worship Guitarist
