Takamine - 50 years of quality, great sound, and playability

The Takamine GN30-CE acoustic-electric guitar benefits from a half-century of Takamine guitar-crafting knowhow. Launched in 1962 at the foot of Japan's Takamine mountains, Takamine has been designing and building acoustic guitars that are seen in the hands of some of music's biggest stars. With quality and value as guiding principles, Takamine's instruments employ the finest tonewoods, construction techniques, and technical innovations such as the proprietary TP-4TD preamp system found in this guitar.

Takamine's TP-4TD preamp system

The GN30-CE sports Takamine's TP-4TD preamp system, giving you rich, clear-sounding amplified output - instantly. A feature of G-Series guitars, the TP-4TD features a gain knob, a tuner, an active shelving EQ with bass, middle, and treble sliders, and a low battery indicator. The preamp is switched on by plugging a standard instrument cable into the endpin/strap pin jack. Unplugging the cable turns the preamp off. The TP-4TD is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

Takamine GN30-CE Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Comfortable NEX "small jumbo" body style
  • Solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides for rich, balanced tone
  • Rosewood bridge and fingerboard
  • Chrome tuners; Abalone Rosette; Dot Inlays

This is a really nice guitar

Buying a guitar online sight unseen may not seem like a good thing, but I'm impressed. Sweetwater did a great job of checking out my new guitar. Packaged & shipped safely. It arrived in perfect condition. The action set just right. Ed even sent me gallery photos they took of my new guitar. I thought that was a really nice touch. I would be confident in purchasing a much more expensive guitar from Sweetwater. The guitar itself is nice. the neck feels great and the tone is even better, played acoustically or through my amp. I love it. There are no flaws that I can find anywhere, fit or finish. It was worth the wait. Thanks again to Ed & the rest of the Sweetwater team. Great job!

Love it in DADGAD tuning

My main concern was getting a guitar that would need further setup. After chatting with my mate at Sweetwater, Ken Davis, I decided to order this one. This guitar is awesome...tone is balanced and the playability is first rate. My favourite touch so far is the fact that this guitar does not have bridge pins to mess with. Anyway the only bad news is that I bought it for my son so I will have to order another for me! btw got it with the cloth Gator Case, very nice, especially the handle. thanks Ken :)

Takamine GN30-CE 6 string Acoustic Electric

The guitar arrived very quickly and was packaged well. It is a beautiful guitar. Sound and playability are great. Have not tried the electronics other than the tuner, which did what it is suppose to do. I would recommed this guitar.

Takamine GN30-CE NEX Cutaway - Natural

I purchased this guitar as a "grab and go" instrument. My other guitars are too expensive to take to the beach or on camping trips. I was very impressed with the tone, built-in tuner, and over all quality of the guitar. It is more than I expected from a Chinese made, Japanese guitar. It's almost too good to take to the beach.

A Christmas present for my son. Good tone. Good electronics. Plays decent but action is too high for a cutaway style guitar. I owned a Takamine 12 string years ago and was very impressed with it. It played well and had a good action. I was expecting the same detail from this guitar because it was in the same price range but I'm not too thrilled with the high action at the 12th fret. I asked the salesman to make sure they checked this (action) and do the proper adjustments before shipping but they missed the mark.
