Beautiful instrument

By Sweetwater Customer from Arizona on January 10, 2017

I bought this guitar as a Christmas gift for my college aged son. He is a beginner and had been teaching himself guitar on an old Yamaha electric we had lying around the house. I don't know a ton about guitars so I called a good friend of mine who owns a guitar shop on the other side of the country. I told him what I wanted to spend and this is the guitar he recommended. He also recommended that I buy it from Sweetwater. The online purchase was easy. The guitar arrived quickly and safely. I was very impressed with the guitar. It looks and sounds beautiful and seems to be extremely well made.

Fantastic guitar ! Exellent value for money !!!

Great mellow sound

By David Motcheck from Michigan on February 2, 2016 Music Background: Trumpet through out HS. Novice guitar player.

First of all I am a novice guitar player. Owned many quitars in my life. I love the sound of this guitar and the looks. It has a clean finished look and not like some that just shine and that's it. The sound is rich and clear and love the wide neck with my big fingers. Sweetwater is a great company to work with and my sales rep is Ikes Taylor. I don't like calling him a sales rep as I much rather call him a good friend who wants to work with you through out the purchase. I am 69 and I do not think you can go wrong with this guitar.

Pretty Good Laminated Top Guitar.....

By TennVol, Noel Case from Maqryville, Tennessee on July 11, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

One of my first guitars was a Jasmine that looked a little bit like this one. Liked it but, eventually it didn't hold up. Think it cost me about $130 at the time. So when I saw this one with the Takamine nameplate I thought I'd order it and see if it was a better guitar than the old Jasmine. It appears to be. Nice satin finish with clean bindings and a backstrip to match. I like the "string thru" bridge......nice and clean look. I like it for fingerpicking......but, it sounds better than most laminated tops when strummed if you don't get too carried away. I love this NEX body size and shape Takamine builds and it's not a heavy guitar either. It has decent bottom end on the sound. As usual.......Sweetwater and my sales contact, Mike Arango made life easy. Sometimes too easy for a guy with "GAS". Great buying experience and a good product make for a satisfied client.......me.

Great Price for a decent sound!!

By Mike Meilicke from Wonder Lake, IL. on August 21, 2014 Music Background: Singer/ songwriter, music teacher.

This is a real nice guitar for the price. I was looking for a guitar I could take camping or to a bonfire and I got more than I was looking for! It has a bright sound and plays well throughout the fretboard. I cannot compare it to my Gibson's of course, however it sounds real good for this price range and I am not disappointed at all in the sound. I did change the strings to a custom light and then adjusted the truss rod accordingly. This guitar plays very well, a great finger-picker in my opinion. For under $200.00 bucks.... GREAT DEAL!!!!

A GN10-NS SURPRISE!

By KelC from Louisiana on April 17, 2017 Music Background: Self taught

For a great first guitar or a spare couch grabber and at a price you'll appreciate, you can't go wrong with this Takamine. Small, but a great tone and after having it for over a year, it seems to sound better and better. It has a nice thin neck that sets up well,a responsive sound board and although the back and sides are laminated , an even tone that can jump out and surprise you. I felt the wood was beginning to open up so I removed the pick guard and it seems to help ,I love it more and more!
Ok, its not a high end axe, but I think you'll be pleasently surprised! I wish this would have been my first guitar !
