High end adornments display the quality of the instrument

The Guild M-140E is a high-quality acoustic-electric guitar, and carries the features to prove it. Along with the all solid-wood construction for exceptional tone, you get the unmistakable look of Guild's vintage-correct tortoise pickguard, and well-known ""Chesterfield"" headstock inlay. Maybe less apparent at first glance, but incredibly noticeable for you, will be the NuBone used for the string nut and saddle for ultimate tone transfer from the strings to the guitar's soundboard.

Discreet Fishman Sonitone pickup system for performing live

If a guitar is aiming for greatness, it needs to only use the best components. That's why Guild chose to offer Fishman's Sonitone pickup system in the M-140E. Not only will you be playing with one of the biggest names in the acoustic amplification business, but the design of the Sonitone system is discreet. The controls are accessed via the sound hole, so you won't have a bulky preamp and tone-sucking hole cut into the side of your instrument for the sake of getting a good live sound.

Engineered for a comfortable playing experience

The M-140E is engineered from the ground up to be comfortable and effortless to play. You'll notice the slinky-smooth string action along the 24.75" scale length, vintage-shaped neck. And the 1-3/4" nut width spaces the strings wonderfully for being able to either strum, flatpick, or play fingerstyle without feeling cramped or having to reach uncomfortably far for your next string.

Guild M-140E Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • A nicely appointed and comfortable acoustic-electric guitar
  • All solid-wood construction
  • Vintage-correct pickguard and headstock inlay
  • NuBone string nut and saddle
  • Great live tone with the Fishman Sonitone system
  • Vintage neck profile
  • 1-3/4" nut width
  • 24.75" scale length
The Guild M-140E offers a ton of value in a great guitar!

Guild M-140E

Bought this model 1 week ago. I'm thoroughly impressed with this guitar! It has a wonderful full tone, great feel and surprising projection for a smaller body acoustic. It plays very well and is somewhat forgiving in it's technical playing. It is one of THE best acoustic guitars that I have ever played. Definitely worth the money. If one wants a deeper tone projecting guitar from Guild, I would recommend the orchestra version (OM140E), which has a slightly larger body. Overall this is a "beauty-of-a-guitar." Well done Guild...

Great Tone, Great Feel, Great size!

I purchased this guitar as a traveling companion due to its concert sized body. The solid wood construction payed in to the decision. I had heard an M120 but there were no M140's nearby and I wanted a spruce top. The guitar arrived yesterday and after a few hours to acclimate to temperature I opened it. It is more beautiful in person than the pictures in the Guitar Gallery with lots of subtle figure. The construction is excellent with no flaws that I can identify. The instrument feels good in your hands. The neck finish is glossy, so if your prefer an unfinished neck that may be a negative for you but I found it really comfortable to play. It is a medium sized neck, with a nice semi D shape. The fingerboard is nicely finished and the frets seem pretty well dressed. All in all a nicely constructed and thought out guitar. What really blew me away was the sound. I had listened to the recordings on line but it was much better in person. It has surprisingly more bass response than I expected for a guitar of its size, and it seems to articulate sounds quite well. I have not yet spent much time with it plugged in, just a cursory sound check, but initial impressions are that the electronics work as expected, but I will need to spend some time with it before I can really make a reasonable judgment. In all this guitar is more than good value for the money, it is just plain good value. Well made, good sound, great size for traveling or around the campfire, or even for smaller guitarists (or beginners) who find larger bodies uncomfortable to "get their arm around". Great Job Guild, and thanks Sweetwater for getting it to me so quickly!

Guild M-140E

This is purely a fun guitar to play. I enjoy sitting on my living room couch and playing as I watch TV with the family, and this body style is perfect for that. The materials are wonderful, with a beautiful "tiger-striped" piece of solid mahogany on the back adds to the beauty. Playability for me is wonderful.. I own several acoustics and this one is the most comfortable to play. I am an intermediate player, I have owned this guitar for 6 months and it is still my "go-to" The only reason I gave it less than 5 stars is the pick up, Fishman Sonitone is just OK..then again I rarely play this guitar plugged in anyway!

A Great Little Guitar

I find it is hard to stop playing this guitar. It is the perfect size for a 5 ft 4" woman like myself who had been playing finger-style on a large Yamaha dreadnought. Its a compact light wait, quality made guitar with nice tone and I am very glad I invested in it. It will age nicely!

Guild M-140E

The M-140E has many of the classic, mahogany-backed small-body attributes: It's warm and slightly compressed, with impressive midrange response and strong fundamentals....
