Electrified Version of One of Guild's Original Dreadnoughts

This Guild D-20E 6-string acoustic-electric guitar marks Guild's return to the US-made model that was one of the first to roll off of the company's Westerly, Rhode Island, factory line in 1967. This stripped-down guitar boasts top, back, and sides constructed of solid mahogany. The D-20E's dreadnought body style's dimensions ensure that the guitar's voice is powerful and warm. You'll enjoy plenty of low end with a great balance of highs and mids, and the onboard LR Baggs electronics are very popular at Sweetwater for ensuring a natural tone when performing.

Guild D-20E 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Straightforward mahogany construction
  • Powerful dreadnought body
  • LR Baggs VTC electronics
Straightforward mahogany construction

The D-20E's neck, top, back, and sides are constructed entirely from solid mahogany. This tonewood was chosen for its centered tone that exudes warmth without ever becoming muddy and clarity that never sounds shrill. The rosewood fretboard and bridge further help to enhance the guitar's harmonic overtones. And the D-20E's appearance is as warm and inviting as its tone. Minimal aesthetic appointments give the instrument a vintage look that works as beautifully onstage as it does around a campfire.

Powerful dreadnought body

The Guild D-20E's dreadnought body construction is one of the most popular designs among flat-top acoustic guitars. Its larger width and depth enhance low-end frequencies for a warm tone that moves a lot of air. This extra power is ideal for single-note lines and strumming when you want the guitar's natural voice to really project. Whether you're a singer/songwriter who needs a great strummer for self accompaniment or a bluegrass picker wanting a warmer tone, the D-20E dreadnought may be the guitar you're looking for.

LR Baggs VTC electronics

Guild's D-20E 6-string acoustic-electric guitar was built for when you need to perform. The guitar boasts an LR Baggs Element VTC electronics package. This under-saddle pickup system is incredibly popular for the way it senses the movements of your D-20E's mahogany top instead of direct string movement. This helps avoid the sharp-sounding quack that has been associated with the piezo under-saddle design. You'll enjoy a much more natural acoustic-type tone with the Element VTC. And its soundhole-mounted electronics are very low profile and discreet.

Guild D-20E 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • 6-string acoustic-electric guitar built to vintage Guild specs
  • All mahogany construction offers a warm, balanced tone
  • Thin satin finish lets the wood vibrate freely
  • Minimal aesthetic appointments offer a vintage appearance
  • Bold-sounding dreadnought body
  • LR Baggs electronics sound warm and natural
The D-20E proves why Guild is such a respected company in the guitar industry.

Absolutely jaw-dropping

I received my D-20E just yesterday as a gift from my in-laws. It was a blind-buy, which I'm not typically bold enough to pull off. I did a ton of homework on this beautiful instrument and mahogany dreads in general before declaring it "the one," and I'm so glad I did. This guitar is visually athstetic, which one can see in the pictures, but the sound is on another level. This is encouraging, as I anticipate its tone to mature greatly over time and playing. It came in perfect tune in a sleek and sturdy case with a built-in humidifier, which is a great touch to an already great package. I look forward to playing on this beauty for years to come.
