Amp for a Jazz Legend

The Fender George Benson Signature GB Twin Reverb tube electric guitar amplifier is an ideal amp for players searching for a detailed clean sound with a huge amount of headroom. When designing the amp, Benson needed it engineered to translate every nuance of his hollowbody tone, so the 85-watt, 6L6-powered Twin was chosen for its abundant clean power. The addition of neodymium 12" speakers and a pine cabinet shaves 13 lbs. off of a traditional Twin. And George appointed the GB Twin Reverb with custom aesthetics that will look as classy as he does onstage.

Fender George Benson Signature GB Twin Reverb Combo Amplifier at a Glance:
  • A clean platform
  • Looks great at home or onstage
  • Won't break your back
A clean platform

George Benson is legendary for the soul and nuance that he plays with. He designed this signature GB Twin to deliver a harmonically rich clean tone that allows all of his nuance to come through. You'll love how the 85-watt, 6L6-based power section delivers seemingly unending headroom. And George had Fender place a 12AY7 preamp tube in the amp's Normal channel for even more clarity and complexity in the midrange.

Looks great at home or onstage

One look at the GB Twin Reverb, and it will have you thinking of the great '65 Blackface Twins. But George dressed this Twin up to be as attractive onstage as it will be in your living room. The smoky gray vinyl covering outlines the vintage-looking black control plate beautifully. And the silver sparkle grille cloth is ornamented with George's signature logo on the lower-right corner. The amp looks so good that every Sweetwater guitarist seems to want one just to display in their studios.

Won't break your back

The GB Twin Reverb is also a supremely giggable amplifier. With a few modifications, Fender was able to reduce the weight of a standard Twin Reverb by 13 lbs. The two Jensen 12" Tornado speakers are neodymium and sound marvelous whether clean and punchy or overdriven. And Fender constructed the GB with a solid pine cabinet, which adds resonance and reduces the overall weight of the amplifier even further. Here you can finally find a great-sounding Twin that won't break your back!

Fender George Benson Signature GB Twin Reverb Combo Amplifier Features:
  • Clean and detailed-sounding amp built for George Benson
  • 85-watt, 6L6 power amp for full-sounding headroom
  • A 12AY7 preamp tube adds clarity to the Normal channel
  • 2 Jensen Tornado neodymium 12" speakers
  • Solid pine cabinet reduces weight
  • Custom aesthetics look classy at home or onstage
The Fender GB Twin Reverb is a wonderful amp when clean power is the goal.

George Benson twin Reverb

I gotta say Sweetwater did an outstanding job. The service was great and their response to the problem I had with the original amp was quick. This Twin Reverb is so beautiful. The sound is superbly exceptionable. So clean and mello when I need it to be and has a lot of power to give it the kick I need when I need it. To the crew at Sweetwater a big, big thanks for the great service. And to Jonathan, thanks for being there when I needed you to be!!! Thanks for keeping up your excellent reputation.

Looking for my replacement i hsd one it went out on me but it is a great amplifier just waited on my other one to come in to be shipped to me 45 min in to playing it at a funeral it went out some times you get a bad one out of the bunch there replacement it with a new one sweet water is a great company on looking in to your problem thank god for that

It’s been a few months since I bought this GB Twin and now it’s time to post a review…….. This is the second Twin I’ve bought from Sweetwater. The first one, to be honest, was just too heavy to schlep around, so I got rid of it. This GB Twin is 13 pounds lighter, which makes a world of difference to an old jazz player like me. So for that it gets a big thumbs up. Soundwise, this is a sweet amp. So far it’s done almost everything George Benson said it would in his video. I’m playing an Ibanez JSM100 with just a touch of delay from an Earthquaker pedal, and really, this amp is the absolute bomb. Sweet tones from the front pickup and dirty ratty tones from the bridge. When you need extra volume, well, this Twin Reverb can deliver, no problem. The best part about that is the tone remains unaffected. I can crank this baby up and still get a nice tone, something most amps cannot do. This is truly a great amp. Now the only reason I’m not giving it the full five stars is that the reverb is disappointing to my ear, not what I would expect from a Fender amp. It has a tendency to “run away” with itself and I just can’t have that. I’ve compensated for that by adding just a touch of delay which adds a nice sustain to whatever I’m playing. All in all, this was a very good buy for me. I’m very happy with this amplifier, and if anything ever happened to it I’d be on the phone to Greg Savino at Sweetwater the very same day ordering another one.

Snap, Crackle

An expensive amp. It has a low hum, crackles. Not a clean sound at all. I have another Fender twin that does the same thing. It must be a product defect
