Pure Jazz Tone

George Benson's guitar of choice for decades has been his signature Ibanez GB10 hollowbody electric. Every inch of the GB10 proudly exudes Ibanez's pride in their craftsmanship and attention to detail. A thick spruce top caps the compact maple body for a sound that is both clear and round. That sound is translated through a custom set of GB humbucking pickups. And the guitar is outfitted from headstock to strap pin with beautiful adornments such as mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay and multi-ply binding. Pick up a GB10 from Sweetwater and find out why Benson never leaves home without his.

Ibanez GB10 George Benson Signature Hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Flawless Ibanez craftsmanship
  • Warm, round jazz tones
Designed to Benson's exacting specs

George Benson was heavily involved in the design of his beloved GB10 hollowbody electric guitar. His input extends from the compact body dimensions to smaller details that add up to a supremely playable instrument. The guitar's tension-adjustable tailpiece tailors the instruments feel to your preferences. Benson specified a brass nut for its rounder tone. Even the set of pearlized tuning knobs were chosen for their resistance to corrosion. Clearly the Ibanez GB10 is the result of the expertise Benson has gained from decades of playing.

Flawless Ibanez craftsmanship

The fit and finish on this guitar is top notch, with stunning attention to detail. The binding around the body, fretboard, headstock, and F-holes is flawless. The frets are smooth, polished to a mirror-like shine. And the mother-of-pearl and abalone fretboard and headstock inlays are immaculate. The quality and craftsmanship Ibanez applies to this GB10 fully merits the praise it consistently receives in its category.

Warm, round jazz tones

The Ibanez GB10 is superb for that warm jazz sound that has propelled George Benson's biggest hits. The custom-wound GB special humbucking pickups deliver that woody sound while remaining articulate and clear. Switch to the bridge humbucker and you'll find that the GB10 is capable of a lot more than its traditional jazz voice. The distinctive construction of the guitar's hollow body also plays a major role in its voice. A thicker-than-average spruce top enhances clarity while fighting feedback, while the compact dimensions add focus to its tone.

Ibanez GB10 George Benson Signature Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • George Benson signature jazz guitar
  • Floating custom-wound GB mini humbucking pickups
  • Thicker spruce top and a smaller body rejects feedback
  • Die-cast bridge allows separate tension adjustment of treble and bass strings
  • GB Prestige Set-In neck
  • Beautiful binding and inlay adornments
The Ibanez GB10 is a beautiful jazz box designed by George Benson.

Perfect guitar

Long time Gibson player here but this guitar have truly made an impact on me way more then any other electric guitar before. The playabality is superb, the setup, as it arrived from sweetwater just perfect and the overall unique character is beautiful. It retains enough acoustic features but it can taken to another level volume wise way more then any other archtop I have played. There is some gypsy jazz character in the sound which I really like and makes it very versatile. Thank you Arend from Sweetwater for great advice and perfect transactions.

There is none better...

I owned one of these years ago, i also had an es 175 and a Howard Roberts custom, both fine guitars by any standard , but the GB10 it is something special the small size gives it a versatility of tone you can do more than jazz with it ..this is as close to a D'aquisto as your going to get . it has the floating pickups and great hardware appointments including tailpiece tension control it has the ease of playability that ibanez is known for ..if you want to play jazz get one of these ...you will fall in love...you will reach for this guitar again and again...

LOVE IT

This is my third archtop. I have an Epi Joe Pass and a Gibson L5, and this one is my favorite. The body size is remarkably comfortable, the tonal range is quite wide. Sounds good through a tube amp with a touch of reverb for the old school stuff and it does nicely with an effects rack. The neck is as fast as the L5. The Ibanez doesn't have the sustain that the L5 has, but few archtops guitars do, and it costs a fifth of the L5 I do wish the plating on the hardware was better quality, I can see it will start to pit and discolor in a few years.

Ibanez George Benson Guitar

I've had my original issue Benson for more than 20 years and it's my go-to electric guitar for jazz. I also have a 1950 Gibson L-5C so the Benson has competition in my rack. My second choice for that purchase was a Gibson 335, but when I played the Benson it was no competition. The playability is just so easy with a neck that's just thin enough. The tone is amazing and those floating pickups and carved spruce top work together like no other small-boby F-Hole guitar. It's loud enough to practice with even when not pluged in. Along with a few other Ibanez arch-tops (including the now discontinued Joe Pass mode) these are amoung the finest guitars regardless of name or price. You can hear me playing it on my original FunkyJ track on my Air Play CD which released this year at: www.thejazzwhistler.com
