THE Speaker For Fender Princeton Reverb

If you're an electric guitarist in search of that elusive sound, you know how frustrating it can be to go through endless hours of research, purchases and testing. For me, finding a speaker for my PRRI was a scary thought because I wasn't about to keep sampling speakers only to have to try to recoup cost later on. (Tried the W***r speaker that everyone raves about and it was LOUD and made my amp sound "darker"). That's fine if you want your 10 to have the volume of a 12, but I don't want or need louder. I need sweeter. After a fair amount of research and consultation with my sales engineer Jimmy Hart, I went with the Eminence GA 10. It arrived quickly and I was able to get it in and test it at rehearsal that evening. Man, this speaker seems as if it was designed for my amp! It was sweet sounding right out of the box. It sounds a tad "warmer" than the stock speaker, but all of the sparkle and character of the amp with my Tele is intact. I can best describe it as a more balanced, present sound. The bottom end is tighter and not "flabby" as it was with the stock speaker. Very vintage in character. With overdrive or even simply turned up, it has a smoother sound than the stock. All this and it hasn't even broken in yet! Thanks again to Sweetwater and my fantastic engineer Jimmy Hart for everything, (especially getting it shipped to me at light speed)!

Fantastic Upgrade for Fender Super Champ X2

Got a really good deal on a slightly used champ x2 . Fantastic practice amp & a real tone monster. However the stock fender speaker sounded a little thin & brittle. The sound broke up a little to early for my taste even on the clean channel which is really this amps strong point. I am playing a Epiphone 1960 tribute plus les paul and a 1975 Gibson S-1 with the original Bill Lawrence single coils. I knew if I upgraded the speaker in this little amp I could achieve tonal nirvanna. I went to Eminence's web site and heard alot of their demos of speakers. I also read alot of reviews on sweetwater. The Rajun Cajun had the most and best reviews. However this speakers 75 watt rating and huge magnet did not in my opinion best match this amps 15 watt output. I read one review which said the oversized magnet actually interfered with one of the output tubes proper operation. Believe me this speakers output really matches the amps output better than any choice you could make. The clean channel sounds significantly better. More clarity, more definition, more responsive, louder and breaks up at a louder volume. The effects channels sound a whole lot better. You can hear a significant difference between each of the amp modelings and effects with this speaker. Do yourself a favor and order this speaker if you want to upgrade your Fender X2. You will not believe the difference in sound and the full array of tones you can get with this upgrade. As always order your gear from Sweetwater.

Sorry, misses the mark

Based on the first review, you would think this was made for the SuperChamp amps. Not in my opinion. Not warm at all. Too thin and trebly. Hurts the amp in clean setting and in gain stages. IMHO
