Gretsch G6120EC Eddie Cochran Signature Hollow Body Reviews

Hollowbody Electric Guitar with 3-ply Arched Maple Top, Back, and Sides, 2-pc Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Western Maple Stain

The Gretsch G6120 Eddie Cochran Signature hollowbody electric guitar is based on the distinct and highly-modified instrument that powered Eddie's groundbreaking rock 'n' roll and rockabilly style. The three-ply maple body is pure Gretsch quality, with parallel bracing and double-bound "F" holes, and of course a Bigsby B6GBVF tailpiece. Distinct to the G6120 Eddie Cochran Signature, though, is the special "open" internal body design for exceptionally huge tones with rich harmonics. You also get Eddie's unique combination of DynaSonic and Lindy Fralin "dog ear" single-coil pickups for that distinctive rock tone. If you want classic Gretsch playability with a unique sound, you'll love the Gretsch G6120 Eddie Cochran Signature hollowbody.

This guitar is absolutely stunning to look at! It's the ultimate guitar for me. I've been an Eddie Cochran fan for as long as I can remember. The sound of this guitar is just beautiful!

I loved Eddys music and the sound of the unique P/Us. I purchased this GREAT instrument from sweetwater and loved this fantastic guitar as soon as I plugged it in. Five stars for Sweetwater reps for helping answer all my questions. I trust Sweetwater and will buy from them with faith.

Wow!!

Holy Cow!
I was floored by this guitar as soon as I opened the case. Gorgeous in that Gretsch way. The western motif, orange finish, just everything about it. Then I played it, fantastic!! I love the feel, the sound (beautiful sparkly sound), the gestalt....just can't believe how much I love it!
Much gratitude to Jason Koons (the greatest) at Sweetwater for helping make this happen.

Great guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on April 21, 2021

I've always wanted the Orange Gretsch 6120 G brand with the western motif and the cowboy jazz on it. I wanted it more for the aesthetics and only had a few references to it's tone but must admit. I didn't care. I ordered the slick gun slinger guitar strap with the ruby jewel and fired it up to a Twin Reverb and walaa...magic Gretsch tone! So unique and versatile with a Dogear at the neck. It has the ability to get a nice smooth butterfly tone but mainly, it's that Twang baby! Integrity of the craftsmanship is hands down the best I've had the pleasure to look and feel. It's worth it!!!

That Great Gretsch Sound!

By Max from Newburyport, Ma on July 27, 2019

I got this guitar about 6 months ago and it"s been a great addition. The Lindy Fralin P90 is nice and warm and perfect for jazz, chording, and single note melodies. The DynaSonic brings out the sound of a big Gretsch Hollowbody with Twang, clarity, and punch. When both are engaged, you can blend to your preference and get many diverse tones. The western inlays, G brand, brass but, and of course the bigsby make this a beautiful guitar, visually and sonically. This thing delivers!

6120 - little known Pete Townsend Favorite

By Whitney Richtmyer from United States on January 17, 2015 Music Background: Pro Guitarist, live sound engineer, recording hobbyist

What is little known about the 6120 is that it was the guitar that Pete Townsend of The Who recorded Who's Next (and the subsequent album) in the studio. He didn't use it in concert, partially to keep it pristine and because it couldn't stay in tune with his antics. It was/is his favorite guitar and was given to him along with a volume pedal and amp by Joe Walsh. He hated it at first look, but was hooked upon playing it. Listen to Who's Next (arguably the greatest rock album ever - that is a Gretsch 6120.) Nuff said

Better than my 60's Gretsch.
