Period-correct Gretsch w/Rock 'n' Roll Attitude

The Gretsch G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose hollowbody electric guitar's sound has been described as "sweet as honey." This period-correct performer is built from arched laminated maple, yielding a highly resonant snap that sounds incredible when paired with its vintage-voiced TV Jones Hilo'Tron single-coil pickups. An insanely slick standard U-shaped maple neck and rosewood fingerboard provide loads of playing comfort. Topped off with simulated F-holes and a Bigsby tailpiece, the Gretsch G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose hollowbody electric guitar delivers the sound of early rock 'n' roll.

  • Arched maple body provides your tone with excellent definition
  • Sweet vintage tone from TV Jones Hilo'Tron pickups
  • Two volume controls + one tone control = exceptional sonic flexibility
  • Bigsby tailpiece yields smooth vibrato action
Arched maple body provides your tone with excellent definition

Maple has to be one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. At Sweetwater, we've found that this hollowbody's arched body yields a wonderfully snappy, open tone that, when combined with the broad sound and lively response of its TV Jones Hilo'Tron pickups, cuts through a dense mix and sounds great in any situation.

Sweet vintage tone from TV Jones Hilo'Tron pickups

The Gretsch G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose packs a wide-ranging vintage-style voice, thanks to a pair of TV Jones Hilo'Tron single-coil pickups. Essentially a single-coil version of Filter'Tron humbuckers, these pickups deliver a broad range of tones with brilliant highs, mellow lows, and lively response, reflecting the natural voice of the guitar.

Two volume controls + one tone control = exceptional sonic flexibility

It's easy to stereotype the Gretsch G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose until you play it, and then you realize you can pull off a lot of tonal tricks with it. With a volume control for each pickup, you can create your perfect balance between warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you have the pickups dialed in. And thanks to the master volume control, you can take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. Of course, you'll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually, but there's a lot of territory to cover when you combine them.

Bigsby tailpiece yields smooth vibrato action

Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that a real Bigsby-style tailpiece adds to the Gretsch G6119T-62GE Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, this Bigsby Licensed tailpiece requires next to no effort to use, making it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends.

Gretsch G6119T-62GE Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

I Need You!

Hi all, I purchased the Rose a few months back and had my old band pal over to put it through its paces. he was very impressed after playing it through my vox ac 30 that sweetwater was so kind to sell to me. Very full gretsch sound and had that Beatle mid 60's vibe down pat. I was going to get a Tennesean, but the older guitars come with issues... decaying binding, needed neck resets, scratchy electronics, etc.. If you want a guitar very well made, a great replica, and built to last... then, a Rose by any other name!!!

MELTS IN YOUR ARMS!

Another "killer" guitar from Sweetwater---the BEST & ONLY place from which to buy! Yes, it really does melt in your arms, just like....well, you know what I'm talkin' about! It has that smaller guitar feel, and is the most beautiful guitar I own, along with my Rickenbacker Fireglo. Soundwise, it rings with bell-like chimes on the bridge pickup, & switches to a CCR "Proud Mary" fatness in the middle position. Also, given the fact that this guitar was George Harrison's 4th & favorite of his Gretsches, it's dripping with Beatles tones, so if your're a Beatles freak like I am, you will definitely love this baby. The features on this guitar allow you access to multiple tones for any type of music you want to play. Do not pass up the opportunity to get this Vintage Select 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose (formerly known as the "Tennessean"). I, once again, give a big thanks to my Sales Engineer, Mike Soper, who provided me with all the information I needed, & answered all my questions with his usual patience & friendliness. Be sure to ask for Mike at Ext. 1342 the next time you are thinkin' about buying. He is THE BEST!
