Basswood body with an arched maple top brings a new voice to the Electromatic line

Gretsch reinvented their Electromatic line by giving the G5435 Pro Jet electric guitar a wonderfully lightweight and resonant chambered basswood body. This basswood body isn't just lighter on your shoulder than traditional mahogany, its also lighter on tone, adding crisp treble and extra bite to the Pro Jet's sound. You'll find that this quality complements the Pro Jet's maple archtop perfectly, imbuing this guitar with a character all of its own. But make no mistake, the G5435 Pro Jet still gives you that great Gretsch sound!

Black Top Filter'Tron pickups give you classic Gretsch humbucker tone

When you want that classic '50s-era archtop guitar tone, you need real Gretsch humbuckers. That's why Gretsch gave their G5435 Pro Jet a pair of "Black Top" Filter'Tron pickups. Unlike most humbuckers, these traditional Gretsch pickups give you a characteristically bright and open sound that's jangly on your highs with an almost single-coil bite. Their more typically humbucker-sounding bass also compliments the G5435 Pro Jet's resonant body, adding woody thump and bark to its lower register.

Fast-playing fretboard

The rosewood fretboard on the G5435 Pro Jet sports a 12" radius, perfect for fast fretwork. You'll love how fluidly your fingers navigate this fretboard, which features 22 medium jumbo frets for effortless playability.

great guitar - fantastic service!!

I have a 5120 Electromatic which I really like but was blown away by the pro jet.! Way heavier than I thought. great sound and fine craftsmanship. I may upgrade the pickups to Duo jet specs, but its fine as it is for now. I must say i was impressed by Sweetwater's customer service. They sent me updates on my order status and when it was shipped, sent me pictures of my actual guitar. it arrived in fine form (packaged within multiple layers of boxes. Hey, it was in tune right out of the box. How good is that!! Needless to say, their service has won over a new customer! Thanks, guys. Time to record a version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky"!!

Good playable guitar

I bought this guitar (in sunburst) from Sweetwater about a year ago, and have used it consistently since then. The guitar came to me with an excellent setup; in fact, it's one of the easiest-playing guitars I own. It's lighter than my Les Paul Studio and the Filter-Tron pickups have a unique sound; a fuller sound than single-coil pickups but not as lush as the humbuckers on the Les Paul. The neck of the guitar is very playable with a radius that's smaller than the Les Paul but larger than my Strat or Tele. With some adjustments to my foot pedals, I can mimic the tones produced by a Strat or Tele or the Les Paul. I have actually used it more often during performances in the last year than the Les Paul. The only reason I didn't give the guitar five stars is the volume and tone controls. They came loosely screwed onto the guitar, but a screwdriver fixed that problem. The tone knob actually doesn't produce many changes in tone, but as I use an equalizer and compressor pedals that stay on continuously and that I can tweak depending on which guitar I'm using, the knob isn't all that important to me. It seems that the price of this guitar is actually going down, as I recall paying more for it, so it's a bargain. This guitar wasn't made in the USA (most aren't anymore) but its location of origin is unimportant to me. If you want a smooth-playing instrument that is well-made and doesn't cost a small fortune, you should give this guitar a try.
