Basswood body with an arched maple top brings a new voice to the Electromatic line

Gretsch reinvented their Electromatic line by giving the G5435 Pro Jet electric guitar a wonderfully lightweight and resonant chambered basswood body. This basswood body isn't just lighter on your shoulder than traditional mahogany - its also lighter on tone, adding crisp treble and extra bite to the Pro Jet's sound. You'll find that this quality complements the Pro Jet's maple archtop perfectly, imbuing this guitar with a character all its own. But make no mistake - the G5435 Pro Jet still gives you that great Gretsch sound!

Blacktop Filter'Tron pickups give you classic Gretsch humbucker tone

When you want that classic '50s-era archtop guitar tone, you need real Gretsch humbuckers. That's why Gretsch gave their G5435 Pro Jet a pair of Blacktop Filter'Tron pickups. Unlike most humbuckers, these traditional Gretsch pickups give you a characteristically bright and open sound that's jangly on your highs with an almost single-coil bite. Their more typically humbucker-sounding bass also complements the G5435 Pro Jet's resonant body, adding a woody thump and bark to its lower register.

Fast-playing fretboard

The rosewood fretboard on the G5435 Pro Jet sports a 12" radius - perfect for fast fretwork. You'll love how fluidly your fingers navigate this fretboard, which features 22 medium-jumbo frets for effortless playability.

Gretsch Electromatic G5435 Pro Jet Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

This sucker rocks ... and more!

I got the green model with gold trim ... not only is it visually stunning in every detail, but the guitar plays and sounds like a dream. Love the neck (not too thick or too thin), and the pickups - way different than humbuckers. The bridge one really give a nice 'chime' sound that's great for that genre, and yet has all the bite you need when digging in for a solo. The neck pickup gives the more 'rounded' tone for nice blues, jazz, etc., but not too much bass and low end like a lot of humbuckers do to muddy the sound. Together they give you that tone that Jimmy Page used a lot on his songs with the mid-position engaged ... but with a tad more cut to it.The only thing I have to get used to is having 3 volume controls and only 1 tone. The knob near the cutaway is a master level, while the next two closest to the pickguard control each pickup ... and the one in back is tone. the master does work great for fade-outs, and just silencing the guitar between songs.Couldn't be happier with the guitar or Sweetwater. My sales person, Derek Senestraro, rocks!

Gretsch G5435 Pro-Jet-black

This guitar has the great Gretsch sound I always loved since I was a kid. Great flat fingerboard to move on. Fantastic sound just as they always have with those pickups. I am real glad to have one and I will never part with it especially what I paid for it. Very happy with everything.

Great Guitar for the Price

I recently received a Pro Jet (G5435) in black from Sweetwater as an early birthday present for myself. I played one a while back, instantly fell in love with its unique range of "Gretschy" tones, and finally decided the wait was over. Here are my impressions after having the guitar for several days:Pros: The fit and finish are flawless. For a Chinese-made electric guitar in this price range, the Pro Jet is very well built. The guitar is well-balanced and just the right weight. The neck is very smooth and easy to play. When played clean, the tones range from that classic "Gretschy" chime on the bridge pickup to a nice rich, full tone as you progress to the bridge/neck pickup and finally the neck pickup. When played with distortion, you get a nice bite from the bridge pickup that is unique to this guitar, and as you progress to the bridge/neck and neck pickups, you get more rich, warm humbucker tones that retain a unique Gretsch sound all their own.Cons: The master volume knob on my Pro Jet was a bit wobbly out of the box, so my luthier is currently fixing that to make it more stable. The stock nut on mine is not cut very well, causing some minor fret buzz from the low E string to the D string when I play the guitar clean (not noticeable when played with distortion, though). It's not bad enough to warrant a nut upgrade at this time, but I'll probably upgrade to at least a graphite nut that is cut properly in the future. My biggest gripe is that several of the fret edges are jagged and stick out a bit. I found this out the hard way when I slid my fret hand up the neck recently and sliced open one of my fingers (Ouch!). My luthier is currently fixing this issue as well.Despite the previously mentioned cons, I am very happy with the Pro Jet. I have had a lot of experience buying guitars over the years, and own some higher-end ones, so I knew what I was getting into before I even ordered this guitar. I consider the Pro Jet somewhat of a "project guitar" for more experienced players, but the upgrades are worth it in the end -- especially for a guitar in this price range. I look forward to many fun times playing her!

Classic and Classy

Just arrived today and after playing for a couple of hours, I could not be happier with this guitar. Perfect set-up by the Sweetwater techs. Tuned it up, plugged it in and behold, that brilliant Gretsch tone. I've owned a Les Paul Standard, a Strat, and a Tele. All great guitars, but nothing sounds like a Gretsch. Fit an finish is excellent. Could it be more black? None, none more black. Wanted one since I was a pup. Finally got one. Buy it!

This guitar is only average

Have had this guitar 3 months. When I took it out of the box the master volume knob fell on the floor. Not really a big deal. Fit and finish is good but the pots are barely usable. Pick up selector switch rattles no way to tighten it up. Master volume does full 360 turn no stops for min or max. Tone pot is either full bass or full treble no real mid range. Neck is each players personal preference. To me it is too thick for fast lead work, good for rhythm playing though. Ergonomics are not good should have had a deeper carved top on rear. Top edge digs into your arm too much during extended playing. The bright spot on this guitar are the pickups. Really quite good.
