Bright and spanky "Black Top" humbucking pickups

Gretsch uncovered a set of Baldwin-era Filter'Tron pickups with incredible punch and twang - perfect for the G5420T Electromatic single-cutaway hollowbody. They reverse engineered those special pickups to create the set of "Black Top" Filter'Tron humbucking pickups that you'll find loaded in this G5420T. With their robust character and trademark cut, the Gretsch Black Top Filter'Tron humbuckers keep you ready for everything from rockabilly and country to blues and classic rock.

Exceptionally flexible electronics

The Gretsch G5420T Electromatic allows you to pull off a lot of tonal tricks. Volume controls for each pickup help you create a perfect balance between warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you've got the pickups dialed in. And thanks to the master volume control, you can take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. And of course you'll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually.

Smooth vibrato action

Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that the Bigsby-style tailpiece adds to the G5420T Electromatic single-cutaway hollowbody. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, the Bigsby Licensed B60G tailpiece requires next to no effort to use, making it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends. You'll be able to bend into notes, give full chords vintage-sounding modulation, and imbue single notes with a character that isn't attainable through other setups. Sweetwater guitarists agree, a vibrato like this is part of the sound of Gretsch.

Gretsch G5420T Electromatic Single-cutaway Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Single-cutaway hollowbody electric guitar

  • "Black Top" Filter'Tron humbucking pickups deliver exceptional punch and twang

Not Sure How They Do It

I have owned between 30 and 40 guitars. This is as good as anything I have ever seen come out of the Gibson Nashville factory. Probably better because I can't find any flawed workmanship. At $ this is a steal. I am pretty sure that this is Lake Placid Blue. Beautiful finish. You won't be sorry. Chris Jenkins my sales engineer. Absolutely no complaints.

Blown Away Blue !

I have waited a long time for these to come in stock, as I write this I see they are out of stock again and its no wonder. First and foremost I want to thank my rep Kenny Stratton Super nice guy to deal with and always a pleasure! And also for Sweetwater for the great customer service ! When I finally received my Gretsch it came well boxed (doubled Boxed). When I pulled it from the last box and pulled the white foam cover off the guitar I was floored by the gorgeous blue finish.. I am a body shop supervisor and have been painting vehicles for over 35 years and not easily impressed when it comes to the finish of any product, the color you would have to see in person, pictures do not capture the real beauty of this guitar. This guitar is well made seeing that it was made in Korea they have super craftsmen and ladies. And this Gretsch sounds great played acoustically and or plugged in you favorite amp just check online videos. The only issue I have with this guitar is that it doesn't come with a case. If you been waiting to get one of these do not delay in pushing that button , you wont be disappointed and plus they sell out so quick.

Can not go wrong for the money - set up and intonation spot on out of the box - service great - way beyond what was expected - plays sweet..think of getting a Gretsch? Start with this one.

I have just spent the last couple of hours playing my new guitar and while I am no expert, I have played and owned several guitars over the years. This guitar sounds great, plays even better and the fit and finish are just gorgeous. it is one of the easiest guitars to play bar chords on. The electronics feel and sound great as well. Great job Gretsch! I will look forward to doing business with you in the future. Also for what it's worth. The hard shell case is worth the price. Also want to thank Mike and the rest of the Sweetwater crew for the wonderful job you guys did getting my order together and answering my questions. I also look forward to a long business relationship with Sweetwater as well.

Beautiful guitar. Sounds like a gretsch should. I run it through my 59 bassman ltd and you get instantly taken back to another time.
