I have been playing guitar for over 45 years now...and I compare this with some of the greats that I have owned but let slip away...I have the 2008 125TH ANNIVERSARY MODEL...and I love it. It feels like an old guitar and yet there has been no pseudo-aging job done to it. Gretsch/Fender just got the vibe right. I love the MEGATRONS...they are akin to a P-90 with more higher end...a sort of FAT-TWANG that teles and strats do not have. The neck seems custom fitted to my not so large hands.....just chunky enough for great and comfy chording and super bending....I WILL KEEP THIS.

Grew up in bands in the 60's. Just getting back into it and finished a recording with old-time friends.

    Awesome

I don't compare my guitars to one another, as each is different...so I'm not one to get into the techy stuff. I buy for the different, distinct sounds they have. I'm not an accomplished player, but do love to play and own 14 guitars. I knew this solid body Gretsch would be great to have and it would add a new sound, not to mention the cool body. I play mostly 60's stuff, and after giving it a workout today, it is now my official "Surf & Twang" guitar. The short scale neck is perfect for my non-stretchable fingers (I'm 62). I played from the Ventures to Old Motown, and this baby was amazing. Very versitle in it's sounds. The finish is absolutely georgous. And the body is a perfect fit whether you sit or stand. I'm very satisfied! Next stop is to let the studio guys run the 440 with it!

    Really Great Gutiar, except...

...it should have come with a roller-bridge.

This is a really great sounding guitar. One can get a much cleaner sound than I expected and still pull off a more grungy sound. It is very comfortable to play and the Bigsby works well. While I suspected I'd want to replace the bridge at some point I was surprised at just how soon. When using the Bigsby, the strings especially the low E don't move across the bridge as much as pull it to the side and back. If one used the Bigsby a lot, sooner or later the posts would break. Sometimes the string would go back in tune and sometimes not so much. After installing a roller-bridge the tuning is excellent. One can use the Bigsby all day and it will snap right back in perfect tune.

With the simple upgrade this guitar is a solid 5 stars.

    Guitar of my dreams

I always wanted a Gretsch. This thing for a Gretsch started from the old Beatles days. I was guitar shopping when the clerk handed me a brand new CTV. Not just Trons but wow Mega Tron ? I have no idea what they but the name sounds good. The guitar was ok till the 14th month when the wood started to become saw dust. The strap holder popped out when I was on stage. The tuners started to become loose. The Bibsby pulled up out of the body. I fixed it up and traded it for great $300.00 Jay Turser. From $700.00 to almost nothing in just over a year. No more dreams, this really woke me up.
