A High-gain Gretsch That Won't Break the Bank

The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway semi-hollowbody electric guitar was built for players looking for an affordable guitar that blends the identifiable Gretsch sound with high-gain rock tones. Two high-output, custom-wound Broad'Tron humbucking pickups effortlessly push amplifiers into overdrive, while the spruce centerblock in the body resists feedback at loud volumes. And a Bigsby licensed B-50 vibrato gives the G2655T subtle pitch control. The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior is a wonderful blend of old-school personality and new-school tonality.

Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway at a Glance:
  • Classic Gretsch appearance
  • Vintage and modern tones
  • Built with the player in mind
Classic Gretsch appearance

The G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior sticks close to what has made Gretsch guitars look so desirable over the years. A pair of F-holes displays the guitar's semi-hollowbody. And its thinline construction is very comfortable to play for long gigs. The G2655T is also decorated with vintage-looking, 2-ply white and black binding that wraps the entirety of the instrument. And the chrome hardware and pearloid block inlays ensure the G2655T will look as great onstage as it does hanging up in our Sweetwater retail store.

Vintage and modern tones

The G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior uses vintage-style construction and a modern electronics package to deliver tones that will fit equally well with a rockabilly band as it will through a high-gain amp stack. The semi-hollow design adds warmth and clarity to the guitar's tone. And a Bigsby licensed B-50 vibrato allows for Duane Eddy-style pitch bends. But the high-output, custom-wound Broad'Tron humbucking pickups are engineered to deliver screaming rock tones. Feedback is kept nicely under control via the body's spruce center block.

Built with the player in mind

Gretsch's G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior plays and feels every bit as good as it sounds. Its thin "U" neck profile is round enough that chording remains comfortable in all positions, while being thin enough to facilitate fleet-fingered runs. The thinline, double-cutaway construction is comfortable against your body, and it gives you unimpeded access to the guitar's highest frets. The controls have even been thoughtfully laid out to not interfere with your picking hand technique.

Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway Features:
  • Semi-hollow guitar with high-output humbuckers
  • 2 powerful Broad'Tron humbuckers
  • Semi-hollow design adds warmth while resisting feedback
  • Bigsby vibrato allows for subtle pitch control
  • Thin "U" neck profile is comfortable
  • Vintage-looking ornamentation
The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Junior blends vintage and modern rock tones with ease.

a beautiful thing #2

I bought a Sweetwater Demo Guitar. As many reviewers have stated; this an absolutely gorgeous instrument. Nothing about this guitar feels cheap; a very solid build. At this price point, the guitar blows away anything I have seen or own; this is a $ guitar all day long. I couldn't find an imperfection on the finish or binding anywhere, The craftsmanship is just superb. The fretwork on mine is very professional, rolled edges and the frets shine; very nice polishing job. Low action, void of buzz, actually a little too low for me. The frets are somewhere between Regular and Medium Jumbo and they ride low. The neck is somewhere between a modern C and a Medium C, very comfortable for me and I have small hands. The volume and tone controls are smooth and the 3 way switch is dead quiet. The pickups are well balanced, they have what I would call a very smooth sound, they are not harsh or too loud; the bridge pickup has a very clear treble but it is not over bearing. The bridge and Bigsby are very stable and are solid. This guitar makes me wish I could play jazz. Now if you want to bend the strings all day long, invest in some locking tuners or get a Rose equipped instrument. In my mind, this is a great guitar for Jazz, Classic Country, Rockabilly or Lounge work. The folks at Gretsch should be very proud of this product; the guitar was way beyond what I expected for what I paid. I didn't put it in my guitar rack, I put it on a stand so I can look at it from time to time.

a beautiful thing

Since I have back trouble, I was looking for a lightweight instrument. I chose the Gretsch partly for the weight and largely because I wanted a guitar with a wide fingerboard. This is a little wider than most electrics and many acoustics. Since I fingerpick and play classical, this is perfect. The pickups are excellent. I gave the truss rod an easy quarter turn and the action was perfect. Fret finish very good. All around great guitar.
