Your Low-volume Cymbal Solution

Crafted in partnership with Avedis Zildjian, Gen16 acoustic-electric cymbals are real cymbals that play at reduced volume, thanks to a unique perforated pattern. That means you can play them exactly how you play any other cymbal, using any stick, mallet, or technique. The full decay is there, and they respond to your every playing nuance. Gen16 Buffed Bronze cymbals give you a warmer, richer sound than Gen16's original nickel-plated cymbals. The Gen16 AE 480 acoustic-electric cymbal system boxed set includes a 14" hi-hat pair, an 18" crash/ride, a 20" ride, three Direct Source pickups, one Digital Cymbal Processor (DCP), as well as essential cables and mounting accessories.

Cutting-edge technology and traditional Zildjian craftsmanship

In an acoustic-electric setup, the optional discrete pickup system in the cymbal mount picks up the sound of the cymbals and sends it to the DSP engine, where your cymbal output is amplified and tone-shaped to perfection. Many Sweetwater drummers even use Gen16 cymbals with their acoustic kits for reduced volume in pit work or worship bands. For discriminating drummers who use electronic drums, Gen16 is the obvious choice.

Best edrum cymbal that's not an e drum cymbal

Had these for a few months now and have really been able to put them thru the ringer. In short as a drummer, I love these they play like real cymbals. The ride and hi hat has been questionable on most e kits I've tried. These play like real cymbals,100%. Well because they are! All the heel splash ... Rising hats..... trashy half open hats works amazingly. So from a pure feel and response perspective they are amazing. Tone is subjective so YMMV, for me the tone is so so. I've been spoiled by nice cymbals... and amazing drum software cymbals. These are not 100% there yet. They Are somewhere between passable and good. The hi hats sound awkward slightly open , some kind of sizzle I can't seem to take out. And the bell on the ride sounds really dead. There is a pickup or sensor that you mount to the bell which is most likely the culprit. To be fair I haven't played much with the sensor positioning. The crash is my least favorite, I think I would have opted for a smaller crash the one in this kit feels more like a crash/ride too ringy and dark for me. Sounds like I am really down on this kit. I'm not these are just the areas they could improve The module can connect to a pc to really tune your cymbals and it works. There are many tones you should be able to build a kit that works for you. There were a handful that were really convincing that I have stuck with. All in all for a quiet (they are about as loud as pads but more musical), amazing playing set of real cymbals there is no competition and these absolutely do the job. I use my old e cymbals as extra crashes, the ride and hi hat feel is irreplaceable for me, so well done zildgian. As a last note my Sweetwater rep Robert was incredible with getting me taken care of, getting answers to pretty tough questions and has kept me coming back shopping here for years. Amazing service!!!

So much fun!

Just what I had in mind and they are perfect for my app living in a 26 story building I can control volume to keep my neighbors out of my hair. I'm very impressed by the feel and dynamics just like my A's were. I matched them up with my ROLAND TD-15's. I really like the fact I can now control my GENNYS completely separate from the ROLANDS. To all you E-drummers out there get rid of the rubber and get real.
