No matter what amp you use, these speakers will make it sound better for rock music. They get even better as they are worn in. ROCK ON!

Awesome speaker!

This speaker rocks! Nice tight sound! Mids really come through well! Sounds great playing AC/DC and Van Halen through it!

20 W or 25 W??

I have same set in 5150 Cab and it's smooth as wine. Epic classic AC/DC Back In Black tone.My concern is that the Cab is rated 100 W. That means each speaker is 25 W. I read it's been labeled 20 W for marketing concerns. Fine. But Sweetwater lists same speaker as 20 W. Which is it?? Can't be both.

The greenback to buy

I have the standard greenback and this one is much better. First off, it's built in England (standard greenbacks are Chinese made). Secondly, these have all the great qualities of the standard greenback with much better clarity. They seem favor the upper midrange a little more than the standard but they also have a broader response. It's very smooth. I'll be getting more of these!

The dude's speakers abide.

First one I bought I put in an old Laney bottom 4x12 cab, next to a 'Made in England' greenback and mic'd up using an AKG 414 thru a Vintech x73i, amp is a Metro SLP and running it at 90 volts, dimed. lots of old tubes too. I started out on the lookout for that annoying high end I get from some other Celestions, nope, not there. Next, what about the tone, warmth, drive? Yep, slide over the mic to do an A/B to the uk greenback. I like my EVH better actually. Relief, LOL not even broken in yet! These are filling up my 4x12. I like the quality very much, if anything they actually do give me more of what I like in a greenback, (i read that somewhere, hmmm.) It seems there's a bit more grit, in a good way, mods are pronounced as you would expect and the bottom is tight. Breakup is excellent, but as I roll off my gtr volume the way they'll clean up is beautiful, all the way up to a roar! Highs are sweet and chimy, for a greenback, not dulled like alnico but sweet like better pre tubes. As a huge fan of EVH's sound of the '78 - '81 era i know Edward's sound. And yeah, they do say Made in U.K., I was wondering about that... Thanks to EVH, Celestion and Fender for making this one happen. Since my first impression I added more and if anything the tone is settling in and sounds as good or better now. You do not want me to turn down...! The dude's speakers do indeed abide.
