GHS Fast Fret String and Neck Lubricant Reviews
GHS Fast Fret is a high-quality string and neck lubricant/string cleaner for all stringed instruments. Fast Fret is not a spray, and it contains no silicone. It's a liquid in an applicator. Use it on strings, fretboard, back of neck. Fast Fret lets fingers slide freely, keeps strings clean, and is good for wood.

works great
I've used the Fast Fret before. I seen a different string cleaner on Sweetwater but it has a lot of chemicals in it and i didn't know how it would effect my fret board. So I stayed with the Fast Fret. I've used it for many years and it works great. It also lasts a long time. It also conditions the fret board.
Definitely works! Strings last longer too!
This was recommended to me by my guitar teacher who has used it since the early 80's. I ordered 2 since I've got 11 guitars thinking I'd go through it quickly. Nope, it lasts you a few years easily! Definitely cleans up your strings thereby giving you extended life on them. Also conditions the fretboard which is a bonus. Yes, it does leave small amounts of tuft cotton on your strings which are easily removed and for what it does it's worth it in my book. Smells good too and goes on very easily. Also wiping the strings down is a simple effort.
The other side benefit is it also lubes the strings making them much easier to play and your fingers tend to not stick to the strings in long practice or playing sessions. Definitely worth every penny and I'll be buying more so I can have one can in each case. Much prefer this to spray on as you don't know what it may do to your guitar or neck finish.
FAST FRET
Been using this product since the 80's. Put it on before you play...Put it on after you play, run the cloth around each string the entire length of the string to clean off all the dirt and hand grime. Apply a lite coat after cleaning...Has been my ritual since forever.
Insane Product
From the second you put it on your transformed into a real guitarist.
This stuff is just amazing.
I use it as recommended before and after every session.
I have 5 tins as my shop ran out and I can't play without the stuff.
Happy strumming
Can't Live Without It
I love this stuff...been using it for decades, seriously!!! I think it's just mineral oil in a little cloth dispenser, but it works great and it's a great way to apply it to your guitars. I know some people say they use it to give their strings a little more life...but I use it just to help me slide around the neck easier. I tend to slide into notes a lot and sometimes the fret board can get a little dry and sticky...but not with this stuff. Put on a little Fast Fret and you will easily slide all across the neck. Again, I've been using if forever...and I love it.
Works great!
Does really well with lengthening the life of your strings and can apply just a few runs of this to get the strings slick and ready to jam. Also is very good for the back of the neck for anyone with a new nitro finished guitar while waiting for the finish to smooth over time or any poly neck.
Ghs fast feet <3
I love fast feet.. been using it for years.. thanks to this stuff I've made uncoated strings last over a year on multiple occasions.. it's safe on wood so it's good for cleaning and it has a great applicator that lasts a long time.. this product is hard to beat for the price
It works!
Long time player, first time user of this product. I remember seeing ads for Fast-Fret back in the 1980s in Guitar Player magazine and wondering if it was a fraud. It's not! Finally got around to giving it a try, and it does exactly what they say it will do. Brings slightly overused strings back to life so that they feel and sound fresh. Perhaps makes the strings a sound little too bright, but I guess in some cases that's better than a buying new set. Definitely worth the small investment.
A little too good
I finally tried it as my strings needed replacing and i was lazy. I'm used to slick strings like nanowebs but oh boy. I went from not good slides to sliding too far. It works a little too well so five stars to them because I was impressed. Fast, easy and cheap.
GHS fast fret
Works great!
Feels great, smells great
I'm with everyone else. Once you've tried it, you wonder why you waited so long. It's going on all my guitars. For the money, you have to try it. And it smells awesome.

FIRST STRING LUBRICANT I EVER USED
Back in the early 70s, FAST FRET was the only product of this type I discovered. So, I figured I'd give it a try. I think I shelled out nearly two, hard-earned dollars for a can back then. I applied it generously & it served the purpose. For those whom may be unaware, the black top can be twisted off the top to access the small tubular compartment for storing a small, soaked rag for cleaning the underside of the strings. Rather than purchase a new can, I simply replenish the old applicator with Dunlop String Lubricant/Cleaner. I use String Fuel & Tone Ease these days on my electrics but still use this Fast Fret cannister occasionally... mostly on my acoustics but mainly just keep the old can around for nostalgic purposes. I believe I've tried every string cleaner/lubricant on the market since I started playing guitar & FAST FRET was my staple for many years. I've always kept a can on hand as long as I can remember... that would be almost fifty years now.
Fast Fret dried out?
I must say that i do LOVE this stuff, but i think I received a dried out stick. But, in the past it has been faboulus in keeping things clean and lubricated. Good to see the return of the metal canister. Buy one today and feel the difference.
GHS Fast Fret String and Neck Lubricant
Great product to clean the guitar strings.
Excellent lubricant
I've used this product since it first came out years ago. Can't beat the price. Takes care of your fretboard and strings in one package. Good for fast playing shredders.
Ghs fast fret
Was in need of a new fast fret stick. So glad they replaced the crappy plastic container for the tin. The customer service was outstanding considering it was only a $10 order. Thanks again for the service and follow up Brad. Will definitely continue purchasing from Sweetwater!
Distinctly Noticeable Difference
Disclaimer: I buy this through my local guitar shop over Sweetwater just out of convenience. Anyways, I'm out of this right now and will head to the shop tonight to pick more up. This thing does a fantastic job at applying the right about of lubricant for the neck and strings. I feel like a completely different player when I play after apply Fast Fret. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Your sound will stay brighter longer, even after your strings age. I also think this makes the strings last longer.
Buy this product.
In the Metal Can Again !
Fast Fret is great. Put it on as soon as you change strings, every time you put the guitar away and every set. It makes the guitar feel nice and I swear it increases fret life .
Keeps strings like new
Keeps em strings like new.
Never used this before, I'm glad I found it.
I would definitely recommend this product.
musician
used this product for around 30 years, great stuff!!!!
better than the spray
Conditions strings and fingerboard well
Always use this...
I have used this forever...I never put a guitar away without wiping it down with this...Strings last longer and sound better...
I Love This Stuff
I just started using this product a few months ago, and WOW, this stuff is great! Not only does it lubricate the strings, but it also substantially extends the lifespan of your strings when used after each playing session. I am currently on week 6 of a set of D'Addario strings on my Strat and there seems to be plenty of life left in the strings. I normally have to change strings every 2-3 weeks. Another great use for Fast Fret is as a fingerboard conditioner, as it is white mineral oil (in a convenient dispenser).
Great Stuff
Not only does it halp me play faster it also save string life. I use this on all my electric, acoustic and bass guitars now. A must have for any guitarist. Highly reccommended.
Perfect!
I'm glad they brought back the tin can instead of the plastic case and made a cover to keep the Fast Fret from drying out. Thanks to Planet Waves XLR8 for the competition so GHS would make Fast Fret better. I love it! Don't change a thing. GHS has got it perfect!
GHS Fast Fret
Prompt service as always.
The tin container is an improvement over the plastic.
String cleaner and preserver all in one.
I've used fast fret for decades now. I'm really glad to see the return of the all metal container. The tight fitting lid will keep the product from drying out. Bonus polish cloth too!!!
Must Have.
I use this after I finish playing and wiping down my guitar, I just run it up and down my strings and hang it up, next time I use the guitar it is perfectly lubricated and prevents rust. highly recommend this product.
Good as always
Stands the test of quality. Been around for a long time and always works. Great product!
Great stuff
Regular string cleaners can damage or dry out your wood. Fast-Fret doesn't have that problem. It gets any gunk of the strings while its mineral oils give a nice, silky response to the strings without impeding their tone. I use it before and after every playing session, and it really extends the life of my strings.
Mama Don't Take My Metal Can Away
I'm thankful that GHS has brought back the metal can!
Please GHS if you read this never go back to the crummy plastic containers. This is a nice product, even though it's simple mineral oil.
I'd hate to keep a bottle of oil in my case and have it break. This is break free. I've come to love the little white cotton tufts that come off on my strings when I use this.
The GHS Fast Fret
Amazing.. Stuff.. it increases the life and the crispness of the string to almost 5 times its life..
Cool product..
Great Stuff.
I have been using this stuff for years. Keeps my Rosewood board healthy, my strings clean, and I get more life out of my strings as well.
its alright
yeah man. its ok. it gets tiny bits of cotton all over your fretboard and it doesnt seem to lube the strings too well which was what i bought it for. but as a fretboard conditioner its not bad.
Works Great
Works as advertised. I play a lot and on several guitars, acoustic and electric. I can say that it doubles the life of strings. I use it after gigs and any practice and it is amazing how much crud comes off strings even after a couple hours of play.
Use it to clean after a gig. Start using it when you change string. It will not restore your strings, but will extend playability and tone.Given the affordability of guitar strings now days, it's really more for the convenience of not having to change out strings so often for the person who play 10/20 hours a week.
This will increase proficiency
I used to use this stuff way about almost 20 years ago or so it seems. At first its a strange feeling but honestly it does get your fingers going down and up that fretboard. I recommend this as a guitarist who has been playing pro for 20 years (well not that long :)
GHS Fast Fret
This stuff will slick your neck and strings up, the only thing is it will turn your finger tips black.
Runs out too fast
Works great. Not a lot in the bottle. Used only 5 times and ran out.
Fast Fret
This stuff is really good. It made a huge difference as soon as I put it on my acoustic in terms of how fast I could move up and down the fretboard and it also cut down on string noise a bit. It is really helpful when you're playing in an open tuning and are moving up and down the neck frequently.
I would recommend not putting it on the strings from the end of the fretboard to the bridge if you do a lot of fingerpicking like me... I didn't really like the feel of it.
Overall, it is a great product and will definitely use it again... although the only ingredient listed is white mineral oil so I may try just getting a bottle of that next time instead of paying for the applicator and all that jazz.
Ehhh
Not as good as I expected. And the included cloth is a linty mess.
good for sessions and performances but..
i like the ease of use and how it feels once applied but, after regular long term use i found that it builds up a thick splotchy gunk on your strings. if you don't like to consistently change your strings every few weeks (like me), i don't recommend daily use. But if i was a studio musician or gigging and changing my strings before every session/show i would totally have one of these around.
Smells nice
Really can't tell the difference. I'm using it on a quality acoustic, and it doesn't seem to affect my speed on way or the other. But it does smell nice.
Not worth it anymore.
It's less than 1 Oz. and comes in the cheapest plastic container. Complete waste of $. They need to update the photos of this product. You think your getting a tin of Fast Fret just like the one you've had for years? Nope!
A legendary joke
I've used many string/fret lubricants over the years and everyone would talk how great this stuff is. Maybe mine was dried out straight from the start but it's useless. I would suggest Fingerease spray or Dunlop Ultraglide 65.
I guess I'll use the tin it came in for picks or something...
Sweetwater service gets 5 stars though.
Be careful when ordering
Have no idea how this item will work. When it arrived the lid was off and the lubricant was all dried out. I trust Sweetwater with all of my music needs, but in this case they need to do something to insure that the packaging stays intact during shipping.
What happened here?
Where is the wooden handle and rolled cotton pad? Where's the iconic smell? The metal container? The new "plastic" handle is uncomfortable to even look at. It drips all over the place. The lid doesn't want to close because there's no way to release air pressure inside. And it stinks. Literally. I will go back to using lemon pledge before I buy this product again.
Handle Failure
GHS changed the product and not for the better. Bought 2 to replace old ones that came in a tin. On one, the felt fell of the handle when I took it out of the container, to messy to use now. They can't even glue the parts together right?
