Comfortable, plays great, fantastic electronics
Yamaha guitars are great value for the money. I played at least half a dozen acoustics under $500 before settling on this, which was the one I was expecting to like the most. The body shape is very comfortable but still decently loud, and the neck has great action after a quick setup, especially for someone used to playing Strats and Teles. The electronics are easily the best I've heard in this price range - clearly better than the Ovation and Seagull guitars I've recorded with in the past. The EQ controls make it easy to get a warm and natural tone going into my interface. In a mix it's hard to tell DI from a condenser.
The unplugged sound is the only shortcoming. It sounds perfectly fine, but lacks a bit of depth and articulation compared to nicer models. Still, for $ you can do a lot worse.
