JHS Emperor

I demo'ed this pedal a year ago in a big music store and thought it was good but not $250 good. After going through almost every other 'bootique' chorus on the market, I broke down and bought an Emperor. All I can say is 'wow'. At stage volumes this thing is incredible. Also, the tap tempo becomes a critical function when playing live...why don't more builder's incorporate this in? Get it, you'll love it. Get it from Sweetwater; you'll get candy
Music background: everything

I originally purchased this pedal for one song in particular. I intended to use the vibrato and maybe dabble with the chorus a bit in during the solo portions of some songs, to give my rhythm a bit more depth. After a few months of messing around I realized just how versatile it is. As the main writer our band I am leaning on this pedal more, to get my tone.

Quality Control

So I got this pedal about a few days ago, and the effect is as advertised. It's a nice pedal, but I personally had a problem with the hiss/phaser noise it gives off. Its the effect of the pedal modulating but its pretty bad when not playing. Tried this pedal by its self, no input plugged in, with a Voodoo power 2+ and still has a noticeable noise. Maybe a noise gate might help, but I rather not keep a noisy pedal by taking away the sound that all my other pedals offer. I hope I just got a bad one, but if its not…… I don't know if I can further support this company.
