A step up from standard hi-fi computer speakers

This Alesis Elevate 6 studio monitor may look a lot like the hi-fi computer speakers you're likely to find at big box stores, but below the surface, there's a world of difference. Typical consumer speakers are designed with what we refer to at Sweetwater as a "smily-face" EQ curve. In other words, the highs and the lows are boosted and the midrange is cut slightly. The result is a sound that's flattering to your ears (much like when you crank your stereo) even at low volumes. They may sound good, but they're not accurate, and therefore will cause you to make bad mixing decisions. Alesis Elevate 6 studio monitors, on the other hand, are designed to be flat and allow you to make better decisions so your mixes will translate better no matter what system you play them on.

Compensate for your room for optimum sound

Depending on where you place them and what kind of room you're in, you may want to use the Elevate 6's EQ controls to fine-tune their response. You have a 2dB cut/boost switch for high and low frequencies - try cutting the lows if the speakers are near walls or corners, and try boosting the highs if you have an especially absorbant room that sounds a bit dull.

Natural and neutral sound

Designed for crystal clear sound reproduction, the Alesis Elevate 6 monitors are perfect for listening to mixes and multimedia content with an ear towards accuracy. The Elevate 6 boasts a wide 45Hz-35kHz frequency response, with impressive +/-3dB accuracy from 55Hz to 30kHz. Whether you're composing with virtual instruments, mixing tracks, or just listening to some music, these monitors have you covered.

Alesis Elevate 6 Active Studio Monitors Features:
  • Compact, full-sounding monitor for listening to mixes and multimedia content
  • 6" low frequency woofer for clear bass and midrange
  • 1" silk dome tweeter for clear highs without ear-fatiguing harshness
  • Clear sound from the bi-amped design (50W LF, 25W HF)
  • Magnetically shielded for close placement to video monitors in computer based music production studios

Alesis Elevate 6

I friggen LOVE these things, Great buy!

Elevate 6 vs M-Audio BX5

I purchased the Alesis Elevate 6 monitors to use as a small practice studio monitor. I had earlier purchased the M-Audio Bx5's and used them very successfully for the same purposes, but moved them into another room to use as home theater speakers. I expected the Elevate 6's to blow the M-Audio's away....but exactly the opposite is what I observed. The Elevate 6's sound OK, but the M-Audio Bx5's were much tighter and louder sounding without any distortion at higher volumes...which the elevates readily seem to do. I'm not disappointed in the Alesis speakers, but if I had to do it over again, I would probably go with M-Audio. Related, Alesis customer service and forum responsiveness has really deteriorated. For instance, where is their much promised Alesis Core 2, and why is there no tray to fit an iPad Air, or USB IN to use with a USB controller keyboard on their Alesis iO Dock II....despite multiple consumer requests and complaints. They seem to have grown too big for their own bridges.....and suck up to Apple Corp. to hard.
