EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Strings

An ultra-fine layer of EXP Coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto a NY High Carbon Steel core hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound. Sweetwater knows that choosing the perfect string is vital to a musician's sound. EXP coated phosphor bronze strings have a natural feel and sound warm and bright with a new-string tone that lasts three to four times longer than traditional guitar strings.

D'Addario - Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over two hundred years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

Best strings I've used

I've used a lot of different acoustic strings but these are the best. They coating adds a lot of life and keeps them sounding great. Uncoated strings are tarnished and start sounding dead after 15-20 hours of playing. I can get probably 30-40 hours of playing out of the EXP's.

The Best

I just played a three-month, 20-show tour on one set of EXP16s. Finally changed them today and yes, they do sound better now, but they were not actually unacceptable after all that use. With uncoated strings, I would have changed strings several times, and spent more money and time.I used to be an Elixir guy, but two broken strings (out of dozens of sets, to be fair) spooked me and sent me looking for alternatives. I have now used about as many sets of D'Addarios, and have not broken a string.

Worth the extra $

Recently purchased a new Guild OM150ce (love it!) and these are the strings it came fitted with. I was amazed from day one at the way the thing stayed in tune, the overall playability etc. I've been using Ernie Ball Earthwood light (11-52) strings for years and was very satisfied with their bright ringing tone. But they don't retain that sound for long. These things just keep going even with constant use. The slightly higher gauge causes no discomfort at all (they're coated!) and as I said, if you like to be able to tune and forget it these are for you.

My favorite for acoustic...

I have used these on my acoustic electric for a long time. Great warm tone and they last a long time

For many years I had the wrong strings on my guitar

These D'Addario EXP16 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Strings were recently recommended to me online by The Ovation guitar company for my 30+ year old Ovation Custom Balladeer 1612. I had used a myriad of other brands and gauges during the life of this instrument not realizing what Ovation recommended and all I can say is WOW! They sure make a big difference in the tonal quality and ease of playing. I am sure glad that I finally found the correct strings and gauges after all these many years!
