D'Addario Short-scale Bass Strings

D'Addario XL Nickel Electric Short-scale Bass strings are precision-wound on D'Addario's exclusive computer-controlled machines. These strings deliver excellent magnetic output while providing a smooth, comfortable surface that reduces premature fret wear. Sweetwater knows that choosing the perfect string for your short-scale instrument is vital to a musician's sound. Each XL Nickel Electric Bass string plays with clear fundamentals and unparalleled consistency. The nickel-plated steel wrap wire is known for its excellent intonation and distinctive bright tone, which complements most playing styles.

D'Addario — Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string-making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

Fabulous

First off it's hard to find strings for short scale basses the selections are very limited. I really enjoy using these strings. The strings are perfect for my Mikro bass, fit great without trimming you would with standard bass strings to fit, perform and sound great.
Music background: Singer, guitarist and bassist for over 45 years.

D'Addario EXL's rule !!

I have a huge collection of basses most all are of the short scale variety and all my basses but one are equipped with the tried n true D'Addario EXL's. And all but one with the EXL's have my favorite D'Addario short scale 50-105's on them except the one short scale I bought/buy these 45-100's for and that's my Squier mini precision short scale. That particular bass just happens to play and sound better and louder with these slightly lighter strings on it. Especially the E string, it just has a better sound I'm looking for with the .100 ga E string than the usual.105 I normally use on all my other short scale basses. And another fantastic quality of all the D'Addario EXL's is the nice low price. I can string my whole collection of basses for under $ each with Sweetwater's free shipping. Can't beat that !!

Regular Light Guage Strings

Very clean sounding. Very bright, definitely not flatwounds. Rock tone. The strings have a very long clippable ends to accommodate for different short scale lengths (28,30,32) which is absolutely awesome. I play guitar myself, after changing these strings for my girlfriend, I played her bass for 2 hours. They're good.

Perfect Fit for My Longhorn

Perfect fit for Dano Longhorn short scale with small tuners.
Nice bright tone, without being too "clanky." Smooth feeling round wounds, with perfect tension.
Music background: Semi-pro

Best Strings and best price

I will say it now I am not a bassist. I am a guitarist who plays bass in the studio. I have a Squier Bronco Bass in Torino Red. Which I have modified with Emerson Custom Shop 50s P Bass wiring harness, and a Seymour Duncan Antiquity 51 p bass pickup. So it has turned into a mustang bass more less! I use nothing but Daddario on all my instruments. These strings are bright and fresh out of the box! The sustain and punch from these strings are great these strings also have warmth when you need it. Some bass strings fart out when you tune them down and don"t keep their clarity but not these. They hold their tune amazingly when recording I never have to retune although I check the tuning after every take. If your playing with your fingers you get a nice even tone with tons of low end and low mid range, but you also get some sparkle. When you play with a pick, like myself... you get those great driving rock tones that I personally love. Slapping and popping really sound good with these strings and if you play with overdrive, which I do you get an awesome clarity and punch I can"t get from another string. Every bassist I have played with switched to Daddario after trying them. Two of them were die hard GHS bass boomer users. Another also used La Bella black nylon tape wound strings and he switched as well! I"ve tried them all, Ernie Ball,GHS, Fender, la Bella, even Rotosound (which I do like on Rickenbacker basses) these strings take the cake! Try a set and turn it up! You"ll love em
