These strings deliver excellent magnetic output while providing a smooth, comfortable surface that reduces premature fret wear. The nickel-plated steel wrap wire is known for it's excellent intonation and distinctive bright tone, which complements most playing styles.

D'Addario - Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over two hundred years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

D'Addario EXL 160 Nickel Wound Long Scale Medium Bass Strings

The Sweetwater technicians set up my new 5-string Fender Jazz Bass with these strings. They sound wonderful! Sweetwater is my go-to shop for all things musical!!
Music background: Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Synths

Not my cup of tea.

Solid fundamentals; absolutely. The dreaded Bb and C on the E string are dead on and full. They are consistent. You pluck-em and they sound that tone. For me, they lack responsiveness to my fingers. Vibrato? Forget it. Better bend that string. Pluck it, roll it, feather it, no difference. Sweet, singing overtones on the G string.... Nope. Easy on the fingers? Not in my case. I find myself working harder to get expressive tones out of my fingers. Good strings, or bad strings? Depends on what you are looking for. The sustain is fine. The tones are solid. The stop fine and they ghost well. Slap is fine, but get that thumb off the string fast. Would I recommend them? No opinion. I've got them on a Warwick Thumb bolt. Brass everything including nut. That may make a difference, I have no idea.
Music background: Been pluckin my magic twanger for a long time.
