D'Addario - Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over two hundred years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

Love the versitility

I started using this gauge when I bought my first PRS, and I've been in love with them since! DAddario is pretty much the only brand besides PRS themselves that make this gauge that I know of. Also they last so long, even when played often! The strings are also not too light, but just light enough to not be too heavy! I recommend!

10 was too hot, 9 was too cold, 9.5 was just right!

I used to use GHS Boomers 9-42 or 10-46 since the mid '80s. I really yearned for an in between! I discovered the 9.5.-44! BUT, I was a bit concerned that the D' Addario's would lack the power of the Boomers. NO problem! The D' Addario's crunch and punch just as well as the Boomers did! And they seem to last a bit longer (esp. the 9.5!). Great stuff! (Cool manufacturing video too!) Incidentally, SWEETWATER constantly has the BEST price in the world on them!

Bumped Ernie Ball

I'm really liking this gauge for my custom strat with a scalloped fretboard which I had been using Ernie Ball Cobalt 10's for the past years and now my Jackson CB Soloist as well. The tension is a bit more loose and just a significant change in the play-ability overall for both guitars. Very clever D'Addario, cheers!

Half Gauge

I've been playing D' Addario for years. I really like half gauge strings because I find the tension difference between different guitar types a lot of the time isn't quite a whole gauge apart, but definately notacable. I like 10's on most hard tail guitars like my Les Paul and Tele, and the 9.5s work great on my strats.
