What EXL110s should have been
I've tested these strings over a period of ~5 months or so, swapping between them and the original D'Addario EXL110s. After this whole testing period, I can say that the Balanced Tension set feels practically identical to the EXL110s, with a few exceptions: the tension IS definitely more even across all the strings, but if you look at the tension chart D'Addario has online, the difference between the originals and the BTs is very subtle. This isn't a drastic difference in tension, so it's kind of hard to notice. That said, I have found it very slightly easier to, for example, tremolo pick from string to string, as the strings have a more even "rebound", more in line with one another. It is also a bit easier to bend from string to string, but the high E remains stiff as all hell (it seems a bit easier to bend than the original set, but that could be my imagination). It feels, well, more balanced, but in a very subtle way. Otherwise, they have the same tone, same consistency, and the same good intonation as the original set. I wouldn't go as far as saying that these are the strings you'll fall in love with; rather, these are the strings you'll wish you had been playing all along.
