A little disapointed
I purchased this pedal based on the single review and figured for the price, it has to be good.
I already own the EV5 Roland pedal (using it with a RD700SX), but was not happy with the pedal angle or the limited movement range of the pedal.
While the EV7 has a far superior range of movement, and a much better angle, there are two issues that negate the positives.
First and foremost is the EV7 drifts. Without touching it foot off the pedal), the pedal will move causing the volume to get louder. I’ve looked for a way of tensioning the pedal so this does not occur, but there is no indication of such an adjustment.
The second problem may be the pedal or the interface with the keyboard (but it does not occur with the EV5), the volume change does not seem to be linear. A very slight movement of the pedal goes from soft to very loud.
I also have a Yamaha Motif 8, and am using the compatible pedals for it for both volume and Leslie effects, and those pedals are linear, smooth and have a great feel.
If the Yamaha's were compatible with the Roland keyboard, I’d swap in a heartbeat.
Other than feel of the pedal (angle and the longer throw range), the EV7 is not worth the price difference. If you need a pedal for a Roland, use the EV5.
