Twangy, Vintage Character

The Epiphone Emperor Swingster hollowbody electric guitar injects twangy, vintage character into a classic design! Epiphone based the Emperor Swingster around the body and neck of the venerable Emperor-II (made famous by jazz master Joe Pass), added a dedicated pair of humbucking pickups, and installed a parallel/series wiring scheme that gives you a range of outstanding tones from rich and smoky to defined and snappy! The Tune-o-matic bridge/vintage-style tremolo combo gives you amazingly stable performance. And this guitar doesn't just sound amazing; you get plenty of eye-catching appointments onboard the Emperor Swingster!

Epiphone Emperor Swingster Hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Specially designed pickups
  • Series/parallel switching, vintage-style trem
  • This Swingster brings the visual bling
Specially designed pickups

At the heart of the Swingster are Epiphone's SwingBucker pickups. Specially designed for the Swingster, these humbuckers offer excellent no-hum performance and feature classic Alnico V magnets, enamel wire, and overwound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite.

Series/parallel switching, vintage-style trem

Two push/pull tone controls allow you to change each pickup's output individually from parallel to series wiring and create a palette of useful sounds. Go from warm humbucker tones to "quacky" single-coil-type sounds and everything in-between. Of course, any swinging machine needs a vibrato — and the Swingster is no exception! The Swingster includes a Bigsby licensed B30 with original style wire handle as preferred by guitar legend Chet Atkins.

This Swingster brings the visual bling

Epiphone tops off the great-playing, awesome-sounding Swingster with visual flair. You get a multi-bound headstock with the classic mother-of-pearl vine inlay, premium Grover tuners, and a multi-bound, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. If you're ready for a professional guitar with unique features and a killer price tag, swing into a new Emperor Swingster today!

White Swingster Royale

This is a really nice piece and I love the finish...it's flawless. I have four other guitars: A Gretsch G6119 Tennessee Rose, Fender Deluxe Players Strat, Gibson Les Paul Swirl and a Hagstrom Viking 12 string. I love all of them (even though I had to have the Gibson professionally set up by a luthier). I really couldn't pick a favorite and I play them pretty much equally. Considering it's price point this Epi provides a great bang for the buck! I lowered the top side of the bridge a bit so the string clearance is the same on both sides of the fret board and it plays and sounds as good as any of the others. That's saying a lot since the price is about half that of the Gibson and just over a third that of the Gretsch. If I were a pro I'd be proud to play this Epi anywhere!

Epiphone Emperor Swingster - White Royale

More guitar than I expected. Sound great.

Epiphone Emperor Swingster - White Royale

I was expecting to receive a classy jazz guitar with this rig and I have not been disappointed. Great sound - the push/pull pots bring whole new dimensions to sound, which I am still experimenting with. I use this rig in a small jazz combo (guitar/sax/girl singer) and it really pulls its weight. The setup by the sweetwater folks is pristine - while I usually use Premier 11s, the flatwounds that sweetwater put on have plenty of tone - no buzz - and great action all the way to the top. The guitar looks great, plays great and sounds great . . . even the vintage Bigsby vibrato is fun. This guitar feels good in my hands, very comfortable to play. I'll bet you can't go wrong with any of the Swingsters, esp if they are set up right. I was a bit hesitant buying a guitar on line but this has proven that to be groundless. This sounds excellent when played through a small Marshall (30w) and Vox Valvetronic (50w). Tryi it - you;ll like it.
Music background: Been playing for 50 yrs - have a strat to rock, a 40+ yr old Martin D18 and an Ibanex SR600 bass. Play jazz, original rock, folk, country and at church.

Absolutly love the sound, tone, playability and looks of this guitar!

Best Guitar in the store

I went into my local guitar store to see if they had anything new and picked up the swingster that was on display. I didnt have any great expectations as many epiphones look great and play like doo doo but this box was a pleasant surprise. It has a nice acoustic sound, smooth action and a great bigsby. The roller bridge is stellar. I think I will put them on my other guitars. The push pull pots really do make a difference unlike other guitars I have tried. It's like having a turbo boost built in. I am going to grab one of these when I get home from my desert road trip.
