    Fantastic

I don't know where to begin! I don't normally buy ANY laminated guitars because I want them to sound better with age. However, I gave sweetwater very tight specs for me. On string height and frets. I expected this to feel like a Gibson. It has Gibson pickups on it. They actually pulled TWO guitars to A/B them and see which would best suit me. It's my 6th guitar from them in one year and I was not disappointed.
I expected a kick around guitar to get s bit more bluesy with but recv'd a finely crafted and sounding instrument that I would happily use on stage or to record with. It sound like no laminated guitar I've ever heard and plays only slightly less as good as its big Gibson brothers. No fret scratch, tight tuners, pots are fairly tight and the pain/finish is wonderful. Neck is a dream for even my small hands. The new acoustic pickup emulation is better than good. On top of everything by going Epiphone during a promotion and guitar month, I saved a fortune.
Hats off to both Epiphone and Sweetwater on this one. Contact Ryan @ ext 1311 and tell him I sent you!

    Sweet

Got one in Cherry a few months ago. Very, very nice guitar. The size, weight and balance are about perfect for sitting or standing ... a wee bit bigger than a Les Paul but lighter. The neck fits like it was made just for you by a master luthier. Its a player's instrument, but looks great. Typical for all Epiphones, the finish is flawless and beer-resistant.

The vintage-spec humbuckers can really wail, and it has a strong hollowbody honk when cranked thru a decent tube amp. Back off and it cleans up nicely. I've only tried the Shadow acoustic pickup briefly thru a bass amp and found some useful tones without much exploration. You can mix or split the pickup signals for different sounds. Lotta potential there. And the tuner built into the bridge pickup ring is a nice touch ... very handy!

A real 335 would be nice, but this baby has the tone and more for way less moola. Sorry Gibson!

More gear than Talent, but having fun.

    Not a bad little guitar!

I've been Jone-sing for this guitar for about a year. I'd seen it online and had really been wanting a semi-hollow body for a while. I loved the es 339 body style, but who can afford Gibson? (not right now anyway) so I was looking for a kind of a knock around (that the neighbors won't hear me squeal like a 9 year old girl if I knock it over) when I stumbled upon this beauty. I have nothing but good things to say about Epiphone. I've had a couple. They are major guitar bang for the buck. I was also intrigued by the two different pickups and the ability to blend them for yet more tone options. I'd heard some demos online and was even more intrigued, but couldn't find one in stock here at one of the stores to try out and hear in person. So I waited. I discovered a friend had a Nanomag on one of his Epiphone acoustics and went over & checked it out. Was very impressed. Waited. Then right about the time I was ready to seriously start shopping I stumbled across it here at Sweetwater. Fast shipping. 2 days. Epiphone makes very good guitars at a very good price. But you gotta watch'em. There can be occasional quality control issues. Got a bad one (first time). The humbucker output jack made loud squawking noises (kind of like when you plug into your amp when it's already on) if you just barely brushed against the cable. Just barely touched it. Had to send it back. I do not blame Sweetwater for that. Epiphone. But Sweetwater's tech support were fantastic - helpful and responsive. Then when I decided to ship it back - Hassle Free Return! Then thy didn't even wait till they received my return to ship the replacement. It went out the next day and had it in two more. Now understand, this is no Gibson. But at this price point it can't be beat. This guitar has exceeded my expectations and grows on me more every day. I made a few adjustments and it's a joy to play. The nanomag has an acoustic-like sound. It won't replace my acoustics, but it sounds cool as hell. Especially mixed with the humbuckers. On second thought, The neighbors probably would hear a little squeal if I drop her... Buy this guitar. Give Bart a call (x1638). You won't be disappointed.
