wonderful, but not perfect
This is my new favorite guitar. It also needs at least one improvement.
First, the good.... The P94 pickups sound fantastic in this configuration. You could do jazz, country, rock, and blues without missing a beat. The neck feels full but not clumsy in you hand. Fit and finish are superb. The Bigsby gives it a great classic vibe. This is a guitar that inspires me to play and write.
Now the bad.... This is hands down the hardest guitar to string I have ever encountered. The combination of Bigsby, six on a side tuners, and nonólocking tuners means that you have to use every inch of the high E to get a chance at tuning stability. I I'm thinking about sealing the Grove Minis for Grover Rotogrips. I'm not sure why Gibson didn't just put those inn in the first place. The cost difference would have been minimal and the looks from the front would have been identical.
Anyway, if you plan on buying this guitar, I would recommend budgeting another $100 for new tuners. It is worth it.
